Where do you farm for Wires?
Wires are probably the single most important resource in the game due to them being used for many ammo types but I never can seem to get enough of them. I kill watchers along the way but they only drop less than five every time. They're also 15 Shards a piece in the merchant's and it's making my girl broke.

Hunt the Charger, find a Charger site outside the Meridian near the campfire.
Silent kill all of them then quick save > restart from the last save and keep repeating that over and over until you think that's enough for you.
It's time consuming but that's the way I farm wires, or you can buy from the merchant for 5 metal shards each in normal difficulty, the harder your difficulty the more expensive they are.

Tramplers drop 10-20 wires, provided they drop wires. They don't always drop wires though, maybe half the time. They are somewhat fun to farm too since you can blow up their belly pretty easily and then let the dot kill them, or override/corrupt them and let them fight each other.

I haven't compared doing tramplers to just killing chargers; probably chargers are faster since you can silent kill them in one hit.

There's also the time honored tactic of using harvester arrows on the canisters of grazer's dead bodies in the nora hunting grounds to farm blaze, sell blaze, then buy whatever you want. That's what I'm doing right now as I'm working towards 30k shards to buy some adept gear on UH. I feel your pain bro as I started relying on the ropecaster I started burning through wire.

Why'd you relying on the ropecaster? are you always tied down the machines that you fight?
I rarely use it, only when I fight Stormbird I'll use the ropecaster.

I used 400 wires to beat the fireclaw encounter, and I was farming stormbirds to get 2 hearts for some adept gear, and it's also a safer method for me to kill corrupted thunderjaws.

No wonder, you hunting big machines.
What kind of ropecaster did you use? Because the weak one require more shoot to tied down big machines especially in UH.

Wire is one of the most important material that needed to craft almost every ammo, it's essential!
Especially in ultra hard difficulty which requires us to spend more ammo to kill a machine or bosses.
