Tips for Frozen Wilds combat?
I thought I had braced myself by being fully skilled and around level 55 on main game, with resources all stocked up before going into FW but...lol

I'm not playing on UH or anything and I'm not dying but I always contemplate sneaking past a Daemonic Scorcher. Haven't even met the "main" guy yet...so that will be fun.

Did something change? These machines feel much more grind-y than normal; my tearblast isn't that effective anymore and though I do have good mods, I don't have the MAX best ones, got too tired farming TJs.

My play style took a long time for me to like/enjoy (up until Level 12 I hated the combat of this game but that was because it took time getting used to it, still think it has sore spots) but is now redundant: Usually tearblasted the big machines -> tied them down --> if I'm being sneaky, used the corruption arrow to get my work done for me/clear the field a bit

2/3 of those are out. What should I switch to? And any advice on getting the most/max best mods?

For survivability I mostly used Nora protector heavy I think it's called, the armor with best melee resist, plus the unique modification with +melee/fireresist and another +melee resist. Make sure you wear the right outfit and mods for each encounter.

Buy the Banuk bows as soon as you can, maybe put on their unique modification and use their "overdraw" power. If you can't start a fight by sniping a weakpoint (for example a battery on the back of a longleg with an electric arrow) then load 3 fire/frost arrows (depending on your target's weakness) and overdraw. On most machine this will apply the status effect immediately.

The 3 new elemental weapons are also overpowered, but their ammo crafting is really resource heavy. You'll have to farm some materials if you are planning to use them continuously.

I see! So far I've been using the Shield Weaver Armor and not gonna lie, it's...underwhelming in this setting. Still brilliant for normal game, though.

Is the snow also making dodge and sprint slower? I truly feel like my dodges miss often, though it could be in part due to the Snapmaw like leap I'm seeing from the Scorchers.

I don't have any Bluegleam enough to own the weapons...literally just climbed the Tallneck.

Get the blue gleam and collection maps from the traders, the new weapons definitely are worth it.

Do side missions that award bluegleam too, I did the tall neck quest much later in the game , and was almost fully decked out with bluegleam gear.

I got em! Now how do I most efficiently kill the Claws?

Applying fire/frost helps a lot depending on which type you fight. Destroy the chest and the shoulder sacks, this will disable some attacks and deal a lot of damage. They also have power cells on their backs, shooting them with an electric arrow also deals a good ammount of damage, however it can be difficult to hit them.

Or use the upgraded versions of the new elemental banuk weapons.

I usually tie things down then tearblast them, then apply an elemental state, then hit them with three hardpoint arrows where it hurts.
