Good and efficient way to take out Stormbirds?
I have this old quest "Deadliest Game" from Hunters Lodge. Get a trophy from two machines, Thunderclaw and Stormbird.

I got the Thunderclaw down pretty easily because it's ground based and can be kited, trapped, bombed and what not. did that around lv 20 or so.

But the Stormbird is bit harder. I tried it first around 20 but I had no means to take it down it mostly just one shotted me down when I got its attention.

At around 26 or so I tried again using the ropecaster to tie it down and then bombing to hell with slings and such but I just could not get it down.

It's pretty hard to get it's attention in the first place and get it to notice you since it flies so fricking fast on the sky. After tying it to ropes it breaks free pretty quickly and once it does break free it charges on you quickly and does a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of damage.

I am currently level 32, going to try it again soon. So I'd like to ask for good strategies you have found against it?

War Bow -> Freeze Arrows. Shoot it till the meter gets full. This will bring it down on the ground.
Immediately switch to Sharpshooter Bow -> Tearblast Arrows and shoot on it's head or neck. This should take off the protective casings from the Freeze Canisters, which you can then shoot both with Freeze Arrows again to release the explosions and freeze it again.

After this, just spam it's center cannon with some tearing arrows.

Remember that Freezing a machine amplifies the damage it takes.

Good luck! 🍀

I've quite often used the Tearblaster weapon on many ground mobs earlier to strip tons of parts at once from the target. I'll test the arrow version.

I remember on my first try out to use arrows to hit it but I had problems because it was flying so fricking fast even with the AIM time slow down effect. But I have better skills now and the longest time aim is slowed and fastest reloading speed too.

Thank you Sir, I'll head to testing it out. I guess I mainly slacked with that quest because there's been so much other stuff to do. :)

No problem! Yeah, targeting some machines in HZD is very difficult, they tend to move really fast.
A good thing to use for easier aiming for me is aim and then jump - the time slows down in the air (a skill). I use this a lot until the concentration regenerates. Almost infinite time slowdown.

Oh, another idea - when you are really having problems, consider using armor that protects agains Shock damage (or Melee damage, depends). And there are protective potions against Shock and other elements - they are really useful and last quite long.

Didn't actually consider changing my armor at all *lmao*. But I've been using resist potions :)

Finally decided to face a Stormbird 1 vs 1 after I got the Shield Weaver (power) armor :P

Atleast now I didn't have to worry much about its charge attacks. One charge with power armor took about 50% of the shield away.

I just lured it down, when it was close tied down it with Ropecaster and then banged it with fire arrows (fully purple modded Shadow Hunter bow, mainly modded for fire dmg).

Fun fight tho :)

I usually tie it down and bring it to the ground, then rip off parts while its vulnerable

You know, after I got the Weaver armor, it was a stream roll P

Still a fun fight.

I love this game, it give you challenges and things to tackle all the time. People say the story sucks, I disagree, the story is one of the best Scifi stories I've seen beyond Terminator 2.

I just love it, I am sorry, I am not a fanboy, but I love scifi stories.

I loved the Hunger Games story, I loved Insurgent story and many more.

I am waiting for the movie of HZD!

Cheeziest way to take out a stormbird...

1. Sneak to as close to the stormbird as possible while crouching/hiding in the bushes.
2. Set up 15 blast tripwires with minimum 500 damage all on top of each other near where you are.
3. Lure call the stormbird to where you are.
4. When its on top of your tripwires, ropecast it to the ground... watch the boom of your tripwires and a dead stormbird.

just download mods and cheats like the bot boys do for " perfect " achievements.

I beat it with fire arrows, precision and tearblast.

I find the best way is to face it down and don't panic. It is good at leading shots with those electricity balls, so the best thing to do is not even move until after it fires one, then you can just get out of the way. It killed me like three times before I learned to just calmly stare that sucker down and just keep shooting.

Uh? No thanks. I hope you were joking, right?

I want to achieve things by myself, not by cheating.

I did the same, using tearblaster and tearblast arrows first, fire arrows and patience. I also tied it down a lot.

But after getting the Weaver armor (power armor), I could just use melee hits with spear after I got the birdie down and close enough :)

exactly, look around at everyones account, who have over " 20+ " perfected games, and ask yourself, is steam a fair app to sponsor yourself or play games when cheaters are ahead, promoting modding and god mode console commands.. and getting games for free, and own about 2000+ they will never play, and use their accounts to troll on forums.

Just like in real life, you gotta cheat to be on top. Play by the rules, you get left behind.
