Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition

Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition

Should i buy HZD - Help me decide!
Hi All,

I'm looking for a game to sink my teeth into on PC. My problem is that I struggle to finish many games, the 2 that stand out to me that I have finished recently are the Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk and Final Fantasy 7 Back in the day.

I really enjoyed Witcher 3; The story, side quests, mini games, combat, my only gripe was I couldn't have more weapons, I do enjoy a good loot system. I really enjoyed the loot system/upgrading in Cyberpunk and the story/characters were amazing.

Recently tried to get into Mass Effect LE but a bit slow for my liking. I didn't finish Red Dead 2/GTA5 because the upgrade/loot system just couldn't keep me engaged, I tried Zelda BOTW but again didn't finish, I really enjoy the power curve progression in games and the excitement of picking up new loot. I think I'm more into engaging open world action RPGS? although I didn't finish god of war.. bit too linear.

I remember playing HZD on PS4 and enjoying it to begin with but I put it down because I suck with a controller and got annoyed by trying to aim, I'm also not that into stealth games.

In summary, I enjoy; Story, characters, side fun (Like Gwent or engaging side quests), engaging combat, a open world that isn't just busy work! decent loot/progression system.

Does HZD sound like something i would enjoy, could you recommended something else if not?

Thanks in advance!!

Despite sounding harsh, I do recommend the game. The game world is quite beautiful, and the main story is interesting. The real draw is the combat, which manages to stay entertaining for longer than in many other open world titles.
Kinda funny. With the main weapons just being bow variants, it initially feels like there's not a lot of variety or creativity to be had with the combat. At least until you start getting more options and figure out that there are quite a few ways to tackle any given fight.
HZD will have lots of fun if you are into this kind of games. Open world action RPG with bit of a resource collecting, crafting, tons of exploration, enemy slaughtering, quests and a good Scifi story.

It's like a mix of Tom Raider, The Witcher 3 and Assasin's Creed games.

And about things to do, it has tons of hours worth of stuff. I am on my first play through currently @80 hours played and still have tons of stuff to do story wise. I have not even touched the Frozen Wilds part of the game yet.
Thank you for the replies!

You've convinced me - I'm going to make a conscious decision to make sure I finish this game too. I do love a good sci-fi story so that alone should be enough to push me along.

I bought the complete edition, I'm aware that towards the end I should do the DLC before the main story concludes? if anyone has any suggestions on that let me know!

Thanks again can't wait to get stuck in and enjoy the story.
One more thing. The movie about Horizon Zero Dawn is being planned. Hopefully they manage to pull it off.

Debating on whether to get this too. Played and finished it on the PS4 and was one of my favorites for the year. How is the Frozen Wilds expansion? More of the same? Does it detract from the main game?

Frozen Wilds is honestly higher quality than the base game.

If you've got the hardware power to run it, it's definitely worth the time.

Thanks, read some reviews as well. I'll likely get it again. Thankfully my GTX1080 should manage it alright.
Although I do not think that HZD has as much content compared with Witcher 3, it's got a nice story, and imo easier to play. I did like the Frozen Wilds DLC but as expected from a DLC its short imo. You don't need to play the game in stealth so if you don't like to stealth around you don't have to.
BTW although Frozen Wilds has the same lore, it has its own unique storyline that doesn't detract from the main game. I went there right when I got out of the newbie area just to get the new weapons to play with in the main game.

It has *enough* content. At least for me, as my original first play through took over 90 hours. I would say that is enough content for the dollar I paid for the game :) Besides, I did not even finish Frozen Wilds content in that run, I am doing that in NG+ in Ultra Hard.

It should; my 1050ti runs it alright.
i had no regrets on buying HZD i enjoy the game specially that the game is now optimized compare to launch date.
I think you'll definitely enjoy the game. It has a lot of depth to it and the lore is engaging, I was never really made to feel like I was doing busy work with the side stuff, and I've played it through almost 5 times at this point lol. Definitely recommend ultra hard difficulty level if you like to be challenged though, It's not too tricky and makes the game really rewarding to get through
