When should I start Frozen Wilds DLC story wise? When does the DLC take place in the game's timeline?

What do you guys suggest? I'm currently at "City of the Sun" main mission

From what I can tell from playing it, the DLC story is stand alone from the main narrative. So you can start it once your around level 30 .

I didnt start the frozen wild until I finished the main story and grind tons of epic mods.The Fireclaw and Frozenclaw are pretty nasty if you're not prepared.Get the Icerail and upgrade it to make it easier.

i would start and finish the DLC before doing the last mission on main story.

I went there around level 30 to get the spear upgrade and then went back to the main story.

Finished the main story line and then went back and finished the DLC.

I started it after the Grave Hoard main mission, since it was in the same area. I was about lv 39 or 40 at the time and it feels right in term of challenge. That way you can get the new weapons for the rest of the main game.

Story wise, I went there just before the very last main mission. Sylens and aloy had a dialogue while climbing up first and climbing down after beating the dlc. I think you can go just after you learn the real story from the general's holo. You'll have more dialogue at the end of the dlc.

Personally i did not touch a single mission from the „Frozen Wilds“ let alone go up there before i finished the main Story & did all the side quests the main game had to offer. But yes it does not really matter what you want to do first. It‘s all about having fun in the end and the dlc story stands on it’s own so no need to rush up north if you don‘t feel like it. As other people said if you go early i would be at least level 30 and well prepared, some enemies are very nasty.
