Use fire arrows to make it overheat then snipe the orange thing that pops up when it does.
Also, you're aware corrupted machines are weak to fire, right?
Not necessarily.
That's why the game is so good.
It becomes easy once a player has learned to use different tools and ammunition. And learned the weak points.
It depends on skill + speed.
A lot of players are just not used to that.
For example, I noticed after 2 days that I had to shoot several times with a fire arrow to light machines. Before, I thought that fire arrows were useless. I thought it was the wrong weapon to exploit the weakness of fire.
The only difficulty I still have at the moment is keeping the raw materials under control.
Especially wire and echo shells.
If you aren’t worried about precise aiming you can shoot quickly by hitting the fire button instead of drawing bow back all the way, and this increases when you start adding handling mods to your bows.
Do you already know that the HZD was made for console players?
As I said before, it's a learning curve.
Better stop this arrogance - at best it's just embarrassing.
Best advice is to experiment with the ropecaster. You can tie it for 90 sec which is a an eternity in combat time. Plenty enough to analyse it and check its weaknesses, set some traps and get rid of the striders if needed to.
Exactly this. Plus you should be using fire arrows. Fire works well on all corrupted enemies and I'm pretty sure the game tells you this before you get into this fight.
Using your scanner to find weak points is also a core game mechanic that you should be using on all new enemies by this stage of the game. Doing this tells you what weapons work best on which components, and the scan will highlight the components for a period of time so it's easier to pick them out at longer ranges.
Honestly the ropecaster made this a pretty easy fight on the normal difficulty setting. It all depends on what tools you have when you get into the fight, though, if you don't have the ropecaster to tie that beast down it'll be a fair bit tougher. If you haven't gained many levels (and thus have less skills/perks unlocked), haven't upgraded your gear very much (if at all), and still have only the basic tools and weapons you start with or are told to buy like the tripcaster it could be a lot harder.
In general there is a need to move, dodge, and hide as much as possible in some fights since you really can't take too many hits. The more thought and planning you can put into some fights the easier they'll be. Use traps, tripcaster, ropecaster, special ammo, distractions, stealth. When all else fails dodge and run until you get an opening to attack or until you find a way to break line of sight and hide.
