Can't access save menu (game breaking bug)

Ok this is a new one. Yesterday I played fine, no issues. Today I tried to play Horizon Zero Dawn and now whenever I try to save at a camp fire or load a save at the start menu the game crashes before showing me the save menu. As a result I cannot save the game at all now or load past saves.

I have tried verifying the files in Steam and uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Neither of these has allowed me to access the save menu.

Has anyone encountered or heard of this problem before? Does anyone have any ideas on how I might be able to fix this issue?

I have never encountered a game that I want to love so much but which has nothing but scorn for my interest in enjoying it.

Hey, I'm having the exact problem! I never had the issue till now. I played several hours even after the 1.10 patch, and then today I can't access the save menu.
Though I can initiate the game with 'Continue' but cannot manually save the game at a camp fire too.

CPU: 3700x
GPU: RTX3070

I hope this issue get some attention.

Its basically a corrupted save file but you have to use process of elimination to find out which one is corrupt. Its annoying but I fixed my issue using this video guide and I have yet to encounter the issue again.

Thanks for the tip! I managed to make it work again. While POE I realized the corrupted save files were actually uploaded to the Steam Cloud. So I turned off the cloud sync while fixing it.
