But I understand yours and Seamus point.
When used to the standard of a static camera (like AC), this appears to be annoying.
I believe the camera reacts different to WASD and Controller. And I agree people who played on console may not be so annoyed as the people playing HZD for the first time.
I did not play on console and I'm not annoyed by the camera. I use WASD keys according to where aloy looks or how she moves and i can react and adjust with mouse. No big deal for me.
People get used to different things and I did not play many single player games to know about any camera standards the designers use, maybe it's really out of the norm, I wouldn't know.
But I have trouble with the controls, too. The camera twists a lot. In a lot of situations I also had and still have trouble by switching weapons, ammo types, scrolling through the item-ring menu, in changing the camera view and sometimes Alloy just takes some steps into the wrong direction or simply does nothing when I give the input for hiding in a bush.
Strangely, unplugging and replugging the wireless controller helps for a short duration (ranging from 15-20 secs. till up to 5 mins.), but doesn't finally solve the issue. System Controls --> Hardware & Sound --> Hardwaremanager --> USB-Controller/XBOX-Controller & Co. resetting doesn't solve it, either.
But the fact that the replugging temporarily grants 100% control over the plugged controller tells me, that there is some issue with the game or Steam.
I'm not talking about the camera alone. I'm talking about that the entire controls are temporarily malfunctioning. Why? Idk. Replugging the controller temporarily helps for me, but nobody speaked of a permanent solution.
Probably an even bigger gripe for me –in fact, I know it's more annoying than the camera position– is when I'm picking up several bits of loot and go to pick up something from a corpse, and after looting, Aloy forgets that I was moving her forward. I could hold W down forever and she still won't go anywhere. But, if I let up for a microsecond, then press W again, she starts moving normally.
I'd much prefer she kept moving when I keep W pressed, but then "pause" while I loot, but then start moving again when the looting animation is done. WITHOUT having to release W and press it again. It doesn't work that way for "single loot pieces" like dropped material, or harvesting branches for arrows, gathering ingredients, etc. It's only the ones with that "loot animation" that break the sequence. It's such a minor thing, but still annoying to me.
"Oh, Google...?"
