ANNOYING 3RD PERSON CAMERA
everything is now running smoothly without any stutter and glitch texture or other bugs, thanks for the update, they have worked really hard all this time for us

But. I have never played a game with an angel camera like in this game, it's very annoying and weird, if you've ever played it you will understand what I mean.

Also in this game there are no configuration options for the camera view

I really hope they provide a normal 3rd camera option like in GTA V or PUBG games

It was like that on PS4, which makes it easy for people who got used to, to adapt to it even when playing on higher FOV.

But I understand yours and Seamus point.

When used to the standard of a static camera (like AC), this appears to be annoying.

I believe the camera reacts different to WASD and Controller. And I agree people who played on console may not be so annoyed as the people playing HZD for the first time.

I did not play on console and I'm not annoyed by the camera. I use WASD keys according to where aloy looks or how she moves and i can react and adjust with mouse. No big deal for me.

People get used to different things and I did not play many single player games to know about any camera standards the designers use, maybe it's really out of the norm, I wouldn't know.

I'm playing Horizon Zero Dawn with a Controller and in general I don't have issues with 3rd Person-Shooter or 3rd-Person Action Adventures. That concept isn't new. It exists at least since the 2nd half of the 90s. If you count 2D-Shooter in, then even earlier.

But I have trouble with the controls, too. The camera twists a lot. In a lot of situations I also had and still have trouble by switching weapons, ammo types, scrolling through the item-ring menu, in changing the camera view and sometimes Alloy just takes some steps into the wrong direction or simply does nothing when I give the input for hiding in a bush.

Strangely, unplugging and replugging the wireless controller helps for a short duration (ranging from 15-20 secs. till up to 5 mins.), but doesn't finally solve the issue. System Controls --> Hardware & Sound --> Hardwaremanager --> USB-Controller/XBOX-Controller & Co. resetting doesn't solve it, either.
But the fact that the replugging temporarily grants 100% control over the plugged controller tells me, that there is some issue with the game or Steam.

Yes the camera is a bit of an issue, the way it drifts depending on direction related to camera. They really should add a fixed over the shoulder cam option. Especially on mouse and kb it's infuriating and extremely annoying.

Actually nothing you did changed anything. The camera simply drifts on it's own. Your solution is a placebo.

I'm not talking about the camera alone. I'm talking about that the entire controls are temporarily malfunctioning. Why? Idk. Replugging the controller temporarily helps for me, but nobody speaked of a permanent solution.

I too don't like the "drifty" camera position, but have gotten somewhat used to it. Still, every now and then at the extreme ends of the motion, I'm mentally screaming at Aloy to move her butt in the direction I'm pointing.

Probably an even bigger gripe for me –in fact, I know it's more annoying than the camera position– is when I'm picking up several bits of loot and go to pick up something from a corpse, and after looting, Aloy forgets that I was moving her forward. I could hold W down forever and she still won't go anywhere. But, if I let up for a microsecond, then press W again, she starts moving normally.

I'd much prefer she kept moving when I keep W pressed, but then "pause" while I loot, but then start moving again when the looting animation is done. WITHOUT having to release W and press it again. It doesn't work that way for "single loot pieces" like dropped material, or harvesting branches for arrows, gathering ingredients, etc. It's only the ones with that "loot animation" that break the sequence. It's such a minor thing, but still annoying to me.

Can you provide a video showing what exactly problem do you have with the camera? I don't know if there is some kind of problem with people using keyboard but I'm using controller and I can't see any problem with the camera, works fine like every other game also 80h gameplay and I play GTAV too.

Yeah, and every time someone posts one of those videos, we get the "THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ME!" posts. Or the people claiming it's not a problem and you should just move your mouse.

I do move my mouse, constantly, and almost subconsciously... but then there will be those extreme times and it will rear its ugly head again and tick me off. I noticed it the first couple of minutes of playing, and anyone who can't see or even feel that it's "off" is one of those deluded individuals who go blithely through life. Happier, maybe, but still blithely ignorant.
