Has performance improved since launch?
I've been waiting for some patches to roll out in a hope that they will result in better performance.

Thanks for the reply :)

I'll give it a try this evening.

There was a minor improvement to CPU performance.

However performance is still less than it should be, and the frame-time is almost universally horrible, so most users will not a smooth experience, regardless of hardware.

I should note that update 1.06 is set to drop any day now, and appears to be the biggest update yet.

I'm curious HOW you define "improved performance"? My FPS is always the same. My system can guarantee constant 60 FPS except when you use fast travel and teleport yourself from one corner of the world to another. Then the FPS goes for maybe 10-20 seconds down to 40-50 FPS till it reaches 59-61 FPS once again. And after 2-3 mins you're having constant 60 FPS once again.

Still, the game controls are broken to me. It's as if you'd drive a car and every 1-2 mins. some egghead grabs the steering wheel to force the car into another direction than I intend to. Sometimes I can't charge my bow, or switch to the weapon-wheel or just run straight and my camera view spins around. AND STILL, I permanently have 60 FPS, while my CPU is on average on ~20% usage/output, with a maximum usage of ~7.5 GB for RAM.

So... from that point... how do you define "improved performance"? And I've played this game for >200 hours by now

I have a 1080 and a 9600k. everything on ultra escept for shadows and ambient oclusion on high. i usually have around 70-80 fps but i get very bad stutter down to 50s and than back up to 80 in some locations. Should be better honestly. the game looks beautiful but its more art style than raw graphics .

12 hours in the game. Stuttering all over the place and now it crashes on startup :)

1.05 improved it for me, went up about 20 fps, so I cranked up some more settings and it ran a lot smoother for me as well. The in-game performance monitor was nice and flat (smooth). It just depends, sadly. Lots of varying results.

So i just downloaded the latest nvidia driver that came out about a week ago i think. It feels smoother than it used to for me. I am noticing less stutters.

Yes improved since day 1, 0 crashes, much stable fps.. but noticing more drops in the dlc areas, but honestly i got used to it already after over 70 hrs smh. 1060 7700 hq laptop user here.. but having fun,.. though it could still use some more improvements, and would love to see some changes maybe in the future

Not gonna lie, I'm getting pretty f**king impatient for Patch 1.06.

It's approaching 3 weeks since any update.

I'm choosing to be hopeful that this longer length of time in patch deployment is because Virtuos is actually getting their ♥♥♥♥ together and fixing LOD, pop-in, anisotropic filtering, stuttering, asset streaming, crashes, alpha shimmering, broken TAA, and KB+M camera considerations.

Let's all hope 1.06 is a proper update.

And I'm also reminding myself to never, ever, ever Day 1 purchase a game at full price again.

I dont do any day 1 purchases either but HZD was an exception, cause i really wanted to support the move of porting games to PC, only to see its not well done.. #NeverAgain

In essence... no, some improvements but not actual "optimisation".

No stutter, freezez, or crashes.... but my PC is pretty well maintained.

PC Specs:

Ryzen 3900X
RTX 2080Ti
32GB DDR4 RAM @ 3600Mhz
Sabrent PCiE Gen 4 NVME SSD (where I have HZD located using Steam Mover app) -> helps a lot on loading times and makes gamplay much smoother... even on snow area DLC.
