The game won't start
Game bought today. I installed it and have been trying to run it for 3 hours. I reinstalled nvidia drivers, updated windows 10 to the latest version. I press start, the game pretends to start and in a moment I have the start button active again. I guess I could have spent the money better. Intel i7 870, RTX 2060, 12 GB RAM. Did you have such a problem?

You CPU is FAR below minimum specifications. Also I do not think first generation I7’s have AVX instruction set that is mandatory for this game.

Your PC as a whole is very imbalanced. That poor 2060 cannot preform optimally with that CPU.

Thank you for your answer. I know the i7 870 is old and weak, although I haven't had the slightest problem with any game on this hardware so far. Until now. I didn't see the need for the AVX instruction in the HZD system requirements.

@Verios44: Again someone who thinks he knows exactly which cpu slows down which gpu, just because he/she has read it somewhere. Just don't believe such nonsense. It's all a matter of making the right system adjustments and optimizations - this is what the so-called "driver options" are for as well as optimizing your operating system. I use an old fx-8300 cpu with a gtx 1070 and i have no problems in most game and this title runs without problems too.

Amd Piledriver has avx, the old gen 1 i5 and i7 cpus do not. And yes, your FX cpu is holding your graphics card back, just as his cpu is. A newer high end graphics card running in an old system is basically wasted money unless you are planning a whole system upgrade to go with the card.
I still have an fx 8320 that clocked to 5.0ghz, I know first hand how much they hold back a gpu.

He neither just "thinks" nor he is wrong.

It depends on the game, the settings and your target framerate and frametime smoothness.

The higher the framerate the more of a bottleneck the CPU will be in terms of stable frametime.

Avx is used by all AMD- and Intel CPUs since 2011. Your're right the core i7 870 was released in 2009. Then even a slower gpu isn't helpful, if the game needs this set of commands to run.
@Arc:
i know all that, but a faster gpu doesn't make a pc system generally unusable. I have been building computers for myself since 22 years and i always buy a faster graphics card first and with that i achieve better results, as before with the older one.

I have no problem with pc performance. Games run like gold. This is the first game I can't even start. If the actual cause of this problem is some AVX instruction that I haven't heard of a few hours ago and that is needed to run the game, then I feel a bit cheated. I wouldn't have bought this game if I had known about it beforehand.

All games that require AVX currently do not mention it on the sotre page. Its not just a HZD thing.

That said do refund if you like. If the automatic process gives you trouble, open a general support ticket and explain your problem. This should be an easy excemption to make for support.

You think there's no hope of running HZD on my hardware?

Really up to you, but no matter what the AVX thing is your biggest issue.

I wont advise one way or another, but leave that to you.

Thank you for your help. I can't do the return anyway, so I'll wait, maybe they'll fix it somehow ...

There is a way to get to a general help support line. This is the best way for you to request a non standard refund.

1. Help-> steam support
2. Steam community
3. I need help with something not listed here
4. Contact steam support

Mention that the game does not advertise AVX requirement as one of your reasons, and see what happens.

There are other ways to get to a general “contact steam support” but thats one way I know of.

Eh. I have Ryzen 7 1700x. Should be new enough to run HZD. Also, GTX 1080 and 16 GB RAM. But guess what? It still crashes on launch! I haven't even moved a single step in this game!
Really, it's a remarkably bad port that's overpriced and undersupported.

Unfortunately, I bought this game in another store and after using the product key it is not possible to refund.
