High CPU usage
Anyone else getting high cpu usage at times while the gpu just tanks? Also Meridian sucks when loading in everytime i play the game and go there lol

Edit: Here are some pictures that i had taken before that sorta show the gpu and cpu usage

i5 10600K@5,1 Allcore
RTX2080 OC
GPU ~95-98%
CPU ~15-25%

Playing in 4K so i'm 100% GPU bound.

For those asking what i consider high cpu usage, next time that i play the game, i could take screenshots with the afterburner stats on, just so you guys can see the exact numbers. Cause GPU is usually in the 98% usage but sometimes the CPU could go up to like 70% then go back down. btw im not really good at explaining this stuff.

The CPU does not have just one core/thread so monitoring overal CPU usage is rather pointless

And since you have RTSS/MSIAB set up, you might just as well monitor core frequency and see what's actually going on.

Also, which of the two percentage readings in GPU group is actual GPU usage ?

now that you mention it the GPU percentage usage has two, i always looked at the first percentage. and yeah i'll monitor all cores.

Well these percentage readings are not appearing to be a copy of each other so one is assumed to be GPU usage and the other is not.
Knowing which is which is kinda important :3
I got the same thing. over 80% on cpu and 15% on GPU.

I5 6600k AND 2060

I checked the driver and its up-to-date.

wondering why this happens

to be expected on quad core i5 of the past.

yeah idk why there's 2 percentages for the gpu on there, i gotta give it another try and see if only one pops up

Yep this and MS Flight sim, CPU Killers!

MSFS 2020 also is a internet killer :)

Because it is set that way in your MSIAB.

iirc by default it is counting and displaying VID engine usage ( HW video encoder/decoder) so might be just that, or you have set VRAM usage in % for some reason.
All is in the MSIAB settings for perfcounters.

I fixed the high cpu usage a little bit by setting it from 1080p to 1440p. My GPU usage went up 1% on a 5700 XT and my cpu usage on average went down about 15%. Huge difference, I'd say, at least for me.

yeah at lower resolutions they can be more cpud ependent sometimes, at least I remember that with a lot of older games. But you put the strain on the gpu at higher resolutions and it becomes the bottleneck, which is good for games since you'd rather be bottlenecked byt he gpu than the cpu in most cases with games. cpu bottleneck in games leads to stutters, sometimes even brief freezes for a second or few at a time when it's a hardcore cpu bottleneck. I remember FF15 having a lot of those brief freezes on my old sandy bridge (not oc) before I built the ryzen pc. fc 5 was more stutters on the sandy, but both were cpu bottlenecked. on both games I'd changed settings to put more strain on the gpu (I had a ultrawide 1080p at the time so I used resoslution scales in both games) which helped it feel smoother overall and the fps were more stable rather than having such huge hitches.

so the other percentage on the right was fan speed percentage lol.

https://imgur.com/a/VXGASwB here are some new pictures i took in meridian with more settings on there and with all 6 cores. hopefully these help. this doesnt only happen in meridian it happens in some open areas as well. I also posted the graphics settings that im using.

R5-3600 has SMT, did you disable it (as in there should be 12 CPU threads) ?

If the overlay is to be believed, 2 threads are close to maxing out which is not something worrying (these are not maxed out most of the time).
The GPU is not fully utilized (that is if it is a GPU util %), but that will depend on what GPU it is, what is your target framerate and if it is not bottlenecked elsewhere (say if your PC limits PCIe lanes to x8, etc.)
