Going through enemies may be a framerate/collision detection issue, where the arrows and machine happen to update position in such a way that it looks like the arrow passes through: like the arrow will "jump" or update its position a meter every frame but the machine part will exist fully within that "jump" distance, so the arrow will seem to teleport or pass through through the machine. Simplifying but possibly the cause?
It happens with all bows for me: sharpshot, war bow, and another one I can't recall the name of at the moment. Arrows will just randomly fly off target. But, I've also not had this problem until just recently it seems. Earlier in the game, things were hit that I aimed for, and I haven't really done anything other than acquire a new type of bow of the same ones. Went from the "default" version to a Carja version? I think. But it's happening on all of them now.
Will check out the handling mod idea tomorrow, maybe. Thanks for the idea.
I have noticed this with several bows, arrow types, and different enemies beast and humanoid.
On the other hand, my Shadow War Bow (non-bluegleam) is very inaccurate, even though the handling stat shows as higher in the inventory - I have to take special care to aim each shot with it. Adding handling mods did seem to help, but the more of them I add the more I'm sacrificing elemental payload. Maybe the bluegleam version of this weapon will perform better - the super long draw time on the Banuk bluegleam bows means they're only really useful as sniper weapons anyway - but I'm a long way from getting enough bluegleam to afford it.
There is a difference in equipment (flavor text and the guide). The Sharpshot bow uses "Precision Arrow" longer distance, higher damage, cost more resources per arrow. And the Hunter Bow uses "Hunter Arrow" standard distance, standard damage, less resources. Thing is, I finished this game on the PS4, and it never behaved like this.
