Oh and read comments on YT 😉 Some are really helpful.

If you mean that tear blaster: that thing is actually not bad, but mainly for stripping monsters off some cannons or upgrades (like stalkers or ravagers) which makes them easier to hunt. The Tear Blaster itself doesn't do much dmg. It's rather like a rattler with tear arrows equipped which always does single close range blasts with a medium stun chance.
If a trial is giving you trouble or you just want to know how to beat them right away just YouTube them. That's what I did.
If you want to collect the ultimates like in FFX, you should try. However, it's only marginal difference in damage. You can go without. But it's nice to have a spare set of weapons for specific elements so you don't have to switch runes all the time, see.
The Shadow and Lodge Caster are too expensive in case of using "HEAVY" ropes which affords more material to craft them. IMO i prefer the Caraja Rope Caster and mod 100+ Handling into it. That's more than enough and almost 50% cheaper.
The Warbow is stupid. Not worth it, cause if you put 3x max. mods into the shadow warbow you won't really see a difference. And you get only 1. Guess it was meant for corruption, cause that's the overall speciality of that bow and even THAT sucks.
The lodge's explosive sling is slightly a bit better than the Shadow explosive sling, but only in terms of handling. The Shadow starts with 40 handling while the lodge's has 70 to start with. That's all! No dmg difference!
You don't need those weapons unless you want them. It's like the overall trophy hunt-crap which appeared in all games since a few years. BUT! Unless you've the Iris-trophies they aren't worth it, either xD
I am a casual player as I also play games just for fun, but I did all trials on PS4 (imagine doing this with a controller) as I wanted the gear and the extra modifications from Frozen Wilds.
Who are you to judge what is for what player?
It's highly subjective.
I don't see any difference between Shadow- and Caraja Rope Caster in terms of tangling bigger enemies. But I also never stopped the time of monsters being tangled (which isn't that important, cause attacking those monsters destroys ropes).
I don't say you can't use the Shadow-/Lodge's Rope Caster, but for that little speed bonus you almost pay twice the crafting price for your ropes.
for the same amount of ropes (6 with ammo crafter, 5 w/o it)
light ropes => 4x metall piece, 4x wire
medium ropes => 6x metal pieces, 6x wire
heavy ropes => 10x metal pieces, 10x wire
That's why I would rather recommend the Caraja with two max. handling mods.
