Is the surround sound broken in this game or is it just me
I know that the game had 5.1 surround sound on console, so I thought the game would have it on PC as well, am I wrong about that?

NPCs sound like they've got some kind of reverb, almost robotic like an android or something when positioned to the back right or left of my perspective, anybody else experiencing this?

How do you set the game to play in stereo only? I can't hear any voices in cutscenes :/

Cutscenes are in 2.0, normal gameplay uses some sort of positional sound, meaning that it will not divert voices to the center speaker. PS4 version does the same.

I can't play this game using my 5.1 Surround sound on PC, the center channel is just way to low and I can't hear anything that's being said. If I switch to stereo it's just as bad but marginal better but still not playable.

FIX:
The absolute crazy thing....if I switch my speakers to a 7.1 system it all works and I can hear the sound and voices without any problem.

This is the only game out of a library of over 450 games with the issue.

It will depend on your surround sound setup -- is it actual speakers or virtual with headphones? Are your Windows Sound settings and # of speakers set up properly? etc.
It should automatically scale to your setup, according to PCgamingwiki. But your setup needs to be set up properly for it to work.

Of course surround sound could very well be broken too, I'd believe it considering the state of the rest of the port, but often times it's a little issue you need to fix

Haven't even tried fooling with settings, but there is no "surround" effect to the sounds. They all seem to emanate from direct center. When I hear someone in the game shouting at me, or there's a sudden fight that breaks out, I have no audial clue as to what direction it's coming from.

its been out so long and the surround sound is terrible, worse port ever, death stranding, Detroit both are ps4 port has far better real time surround sound rendering than this sad port. worse of all, dev dont acknowledge the problem.

There are more than one gaming platforms for PC, Steam isn't the only one.

Enabling Surround on SBX Pro Studio did the trick for me on my Creative X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro v3, this setting is on the Creative Audio Control Panel. Some other folks said Creative Alchemy program worked for them.
