Two main causes for that tend to be running out of storage on the drive it's trying to use for the compiling or not having a large enough page file. Go increase the size of your page file.

How much RAM do you have? Try to increase your swap memory if you are low on RAM. Also there should be some more empty space on your hard drive because shader compiler generates a cache file which weights around 900Mb.

I have 300 gigs free on the drive where the game is installed. I have 8 Ram.

Yeah, 8gb of ram is the problem. Increase the size of your page file.

Increase your swapfile to at least 16 GB.
8 GB more memory is a fine upgrade if you are in the mood.

I guess 8 is not enough for this game. Your OS uses about a half of it. There are people which have 16 and still have problems because their card are also low on memory. Try to increase your swap file

That's sadly way too low for current state of the game (welp, it is low in general for any modern game but i digress).

You would have to set like 16+GB pagefile (Virtual Memory) just to finish this process which would take quite a bit of time as a result.

8 gigs of RAM is just such a small amount of RAM these days. If you're gaming, especially games like this, you want 16gig, no question.

That being said, some people with 16gb are still having issues. I have 16gigs, and I also have discord, and multiple background processes running, and haven't crashed at all. Though, my gpu has 8gigs of vram, which could also be a defining factor especially when installing shaders.

Dziękuję. Pomogło zwiększenie pamięci podręcznej, pliku stronicowania na dysku C. Mimo że mam dużo pamięci, wcześniej gra sie nie uruchamiała.
Thank you. Increasing the cache, the pagefile on drive C helped. Even though I have a lot of memory, the game didn't start before.

I set it to 7960MB and it made it through the optimization part. I also play RDR 2 and have never had any problems with running it. I aim for 30 FPS and in RDR 2 I have average of 40ish with textures on ultra and a few other settigns on high. And this game isn't nearly as graphics heavy as RDR 2, but the port if atrocious. I haven't had such trouble when playing it on PS4, and my PC should be stronger than a PS4.
