Rtx 2060/i7 9700k on 1440p with original setting only hits 50ish fps. Even on 1080p its barely 60-65.
For reference rdr2 pc port is pretty meh too but that runs 55-75 fps mostly. High almost all settings, few medium.
Worst is, for me atleast, even when I have 60 fps in HZD it feels really laggy for some reason. Don't have that issue in rdr2 or other games.

Actual gameplay seems to be worse than the benchmark, I've seen as low as 40ish fps.
They have improved the quick save so your frames don't drop when you save.
You meet the minimum system requirements. so don't expect it to look like the console version if you want 60fps.

Though the gtx 970 is starting to show its age, it's still a pretty capable card if you're playing at 1080p. I can still play many of the latest games on "high" settings at a decent fps (Red Dead Redemption 2 on everything "High" at around 50 fps).
However, with that said, your experience may vary with this particular game. I'm pretty lucky to be able to run this game without too much issues, but it may end up running poorly on your system. It's pretty much a gamble.
The game's detection put everything on medium, at 1080p I have about 40-50 fps, sometimes more.
I got some stuttering and flickering problems. I haven't tried low settings yet.
No crash after about 9 hours of playing.
Well the thing about RDR2 is the way they labeled their settings .... High on most settings in RDR2 is like Ultra in most other games and their Ultra is really next gen (RDNA2 Ampere) quality ..... My issues with RDR2 was it was 6 weeks before I could even get past the launcher without crashing 9 of 10 times and then another 4-6 weeks before it stopped crashing ever 45-60 minutes .....
I'm using a RX 5700 (non XT) flashed with an XT BIOS and I didn't have any crashing problems although I haven't played it yet for 3-4 hours straight. I just had low framerates for the graphics quality and some occasional stuttering, mainly in cut scenes but the 1.02 update really cut my framerates even more from 56 down to 40 .... Same quality graphics in RDR2 gets me around 72 and in AC Odyssey 77 although frankly I think both RDR2 and Odyssey actually look bit better environmentally (trees, rocks, grasses, etc.) while this has a little bit better looking PC and NPCs
What it does have in common with RDR2 is it is a great game ruined by a lousy port that simply should not have never been released in the state it was in
Sorry to hear that man. I had my own issues with RDR2 when it first launched as well, but it was mainly to do with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Rockstar Launcher. It would sometimes kick me out of the game when I lost internet connection due to their online drm. Other than that, and some really annoying bugs (weapon loadout randomly changing for no reason), didn't have much problems.
As for Horizon Zero Dawn, yeah, I've been noticing a slight drop in performance with every new patch. My FPS remains about the same, but there seems to be slightly more stuttering here and there. My guess is in their quest to make the game somewhat more stable and prevent crashing, they may have inadvertently caused the game to run worse performance wise. I do hope they can get this sorted out soon, though at this rate, I think I'd probably finish the game before the next patch. LOL. Oh, well.
