Some machines if you detachment certain components loses their ability to hurt you using long distance attacks. detaching some components make it easier to see their weak points and expolit them for more damage.
Have a great day.
Destroying components makes machines more vulnerable to damage, staggers them and almost always nullifies their weaponry, forcing them to clumsily charge at you with just melee attacks.
destroying their respective canisters for example, can outright destroy them once it blows up, and in some cases it stuns them for so long that you have ample time to go for the killing blow with your spear.
I found easier than aiming at a mobile robot.
For example.
Those canisters.
Just looting the enemy gives you 1 per canister, while shooting them off with harvesting arrows gives you 6 per canister.
