Why Pre-Purchase?

I'm not trying to be judgemental or a troll, I'm genuinely curious. Why would someone pre purchase a game, when you don't get any pre purchase bonus?

EDIT: Thanks for your thoughtful answers. I've never pre purchased a game before, and I always wondered why someone would. I now see there are lots of good reasons :)

It was cheaper on Green Man Gaming if I pre-purchased it. I will say though, pre-purchasing isn't always a good idea.

The only game I've ever pre-purchased was Pyre, a stellar gem from Super Giant Games because I trusted the developer and wanted to show my support. Besides that, I never pre-order. I am tempted to pre-order HZD since there have been reports of increases in regional pricing.

Why pre-order it? It's a choice I made, and no one twisted my arm. I have the money, and I felt like it. I also know it's a good game. I don't know if it will be a good port, so it's a gamble in that respect. It's also so that I don't forget about it, since I tend to chase around shiny objects and get distracted by things. I also worked hard my whole life so now I can afford games when I feel like it. I made decent life choices, so I'm perfectly OK with treating myself once in a while.

I've prepurchase because I've seen the preload was ready on internet but it's wrong...
