Petition to lower the minimum required graphics hardware
I for one, have loved this game since it came out. However, I have never afforded a PS4, and had my hopes and dreams set on playing this on PC.
As part of the increase of specs during the port, my dreams are dashed and my hopes are crushed as my GPU is now not able to play this game, even if graphics were set to minimum.
My GPU is, unfortunately, soldered onto the motherboard, so changing the GPU really isn't an option.

I, for one, would be content to play this even on badgraphics, so long as I got 25-30 FPS on my current GPU.
My CPU is comparable to the minimum requirements, so hopefully it could run it, and I have more than enough RAM, but the GPU is the sticking point.
If the devs would set this up so that it runs on a GTX950M, I would be ecstatic, and probably not wait for a sale before buying this.
Games such as Just Cause 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider get about 30 FPS on my rig (M2000M[www.notebookcheck.net]) when graphics are set to "high" with a resolution of 1080p. I would be willing to play HZD on low at 720p if I could just play it.

I think the devs don't realize just how many of us are devoted fans and would love this game to pieces but--especially because of covid--simply cannot afford a new computer just to enable us to run this 3+ year old game. I have no issues with --and even applaud--the devs deciding to increase the max graphics, but am unhappy with their decision to increase the minimum specs from those of a PS4.

Before you say "game surveys show most people have this or that GPU," I would like to submit that I have not seen steam request a survey in 2 years. They have not sampled my PC in a long time, and I know many other people who have never seen a steam survey in a similar amount of time. The reason I bring this up is that it means that steam surveys, while useful, do not necessarily paint an accurate picture. (I remember one survey where the primary language saw one language (A) jump up significantly, and the very next survey saw the other main language (B) jump up a similar rate, while users of (A) shrank significantly.) The survey is a representation of the users, but is by no means a complete or accurate picture, unless those sampled are a correct representation of the whole of the userbase.

If you too would appreciate being able to play this 3-year-old game on a GPU weaker than what the devs are currently stating, please comment with a "+1" or similar below.

PLEASE abstain from any derogatory comments toward any other user, as this is not about deriding others for not being able to afford a better computer, nor is it about putting down other people for having a difference of opinion. Instead, this is all about asking the devs to please lower the minimum specs required to play this game.

GTX 1060 is kinda bare minimum now. as ex beta tester/sever admin and ex moderator from another small steam indie dev team. Games are only going have higher demands, esp with next gen consoles just around the corner. AMD Zen 2/RDNA 2 is/Will be the become the standard very soon.

Your gpu is less then base PS4 performance.

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gtx-950m.c2642
and uses DDR3 and 128 bit memory bus..

Sorry not be rude but it's time upgrade. You maybe able play at 720p maybe low settings, but prob won't run very well. If don't have good pc, Then play on Ps4. <3 the game on base ps4 and can't wait play on pc :)

His gpu is soldered, so he probably can't upgrade, probably even using laptop. Only high end gaming laptops which are 40% more expensive than PC with same specs are designed for games. All others are compromise and get outdated for gaming pretty fast.

he didnt specify, desktop computer have integrated graphics aswell. despite what he has, he is still asking for the impossible those are not ment to run heavy 3D applications their mainly use for video output and media consumption.

probably 60 fps at 1080p with mix of medium and mostly high and maybe a few very high settings. obviously no one can possibly know for sure but there will certainly be some settings that are quite demanding. the rest of your system matters too though.

Dare I ask *why* the GPU is soldered on?

Cuz that's how most laptops with a dedicated GPU chip are manufactured in the factory nowadays?

Oh, laptops.
Interesting to know, though. Thank you!

Your post won't do anything unfortunately because it's targeting a very small minority. The only solution is to save money for a new laptop and you know it. You should be able to run the game at lowest settings in 720p with acceptable fps tho

You won't believe how many folks are still stuck with the 'I can run X so I should be able to run Y too' technical fallacy in 2020. I feel sorry for the OP typing that much actually believing some changes can be made.
Do you honestly think that Sony will spend hundreds of thousands downgrading their own game when you could buy a more powerful computer? No business in their right mind would ever do that.

lmao this is never going to happen

Maybe you can try finding someone who will make a HD low end mod after the game releases (like what modders did with other games such as GTA V), but I doubt that you'll get a pleasurable experience from that imo.

And not all games are created equal. Just because you can run Tomb Raider at 30fps there doesn't mean that it'll be the same result with this game or newer ones such as Cyberpunk 2077.

Games will often run on hardware lower than the minimum requirements. I did for years before finally upgrading. However, what you're asking for isn't how hardware requirements work... you can't just lower what a game requires resource-wise. The requirements are based on a game designed from the ground up to run on the PS4 specs. Downgrading the requirements would would take a lot of work and modification, and probably isn't worth it for the small percentage of users it would affect.
