Well if you say its great it must be ha...
There were several other very impressive PS4 exclusives this generation so there is a good chance one of those would've convinced me eventually, but I was already sold after HZD. :D
I never gave up on pc gaming though. I only played the exclusives on the PS4 Pro. So I'm very much looking forward to this pc release. :)
Im 53 my eyes are ♥♥♥♥ I miss type often, you'll understand if you get to my age...
One of the most overrated PS games in existence. PS fanboys blow it way out of proportion. Its an "ok" game. Not a masterpiece. Nowhere near as good as the first Last of Us game as far as story telling goes.
Id defo agree and its a very RPG lite more action game with a bit of RPG stuff just so they could add it as a tag in the list...
For me it’s actually the other way around.i bought and played tlou definitive edition, and I was waiting for the game to get good until the end. The gameplay and mechanics were absolutely boring, and after suffering through it for like 10 hours I got fed up with the one shot mechanics and just dropped the difficulty.
I can see the appeal as far as story goes. It’s definitely better than most games out there, but For me its ‘good zombie movie’ grade, and not the absolute pinnacle in storytelling like many will have you think.
By the end I got so fed up with the gameplay and was “why am I doing this again ?” That-at I just watched a no commentary playthrough of the dlc on YouTube. It was a more enjoyable experience than actually playing it myself.
Back on topic: what drew me in this game was the lore/backstory and exploration aspects. The ‘main quest’ is very linear, but after a certain point the world opens up and you’re free to explore the world. High level areas are mostly locked off in an organic way, with enemies that are very hard to beat/sneak past, or guards that will not allow you passage.
Even when performing the side quests I felt like I was playing the story of my main character, obtaining better gear and learning to deal with new threats. It didn’t have that “the world is ending” main quest with “go fetch my lost chicken” side quests feel.
Just don’t go into this game expecting a huge character driven RPG. It’s an action game where they wanted to make a game and the first thing on the drawing board was “DINO ROBOTS YEAAAAAAH”. The fact that it had an engaging story and world that drew me in was icing on the cake.
The respawning enemies also reminded me each time on how far I’ve come, in a “I had to sneak past you before, now come here so I can harvest your parts” way :)
