Horizon Zero Dawn drm
I'm sure many people on and off this form are worried about Denuvo ruining this game for many reasons and fear that sony has a history of using it. But I looked on the PC Gaming Wiki and found that Playstation Mobile(the division of sony more open to the pc market) has not released a game with it. I mean there is only 4 with horizon but https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Company:PlayStation_Mobile. Then again I am not with guerilla so I don't know, but this thought generally puts my mind at ease.

I doubt the game won't have Denuvo, it's not like Sony. In any case, we should thank them.

I guess for the pc market they really don't have any history, and thinking they won't have it is somewhat a benefit of the doubt. And I am EXTREMELY thankful that they finally got a AAA game to pc, and one of my favorites to boot. On one hand, Death Stranding uses Denuvo, which is the only other Decima game for pc. On the other hand, It is published by 505 games for pc, while Horizon Zero Dawn is published by Playstation mobile(which dosen't have a history with Denuvo). That's not to say Horizon won't have DRM, it certainly will, I'm just saying it could just be the steam DRM instead. But this up in the air until Guerilla themselves comment on it.

99.9999 % chance that the game will come with Denuvo, And Denuvo or no Denuvo, I am still getting the game day 1. We get a quality game from a publisher/developer, we support them.

Assassins Creed Origins is heavily protected with Denuvo and VMProtect.
VMProtect basically fires every time the player moves. oO
https://torrentfreak.com/assassins-creed-origin-drm-hammers-gamers-cpus-171030/

As soon as DRM intervenes badly with players experience then things go way too far.
Luckily, my system is way too powerful for minding such stupid anti-piracy measures.

Yet developers cannot believe that players will buy hardware that exceedes their recommended system specs just for them being able to overcome issues with the DRM protection.

I highly disapprove of such dumb measures. At least there is no necessity for two different DRMs.

ESPECIALLY... It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥' cracked!

You cannot protect your game to make it absolutely unable to crack it.
Not even consoles are that secure.

I guess I'm just hopeful then, but I still believe it is possible that they could use just the steam implementation. Mostly because the other games that where specifically published by Playstation mobile(Helldrivers, Guns up!, and Everybody's Gone to Rapture) have not used Denuvo and just used steam for DRM. But I guess Horizon zero dawn is more of a AAA game then those are, so that is why I still feel it is up in the air. Now others have said that sony has a history with Denuvo, but this is the first instance of sony themselves putting a AAA game on pc. The Denuvo plagued games people remember are Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human, all of which where self published by Quantic Dreams themselves as they are something of a second party developer. This is also true for Death Standing, as the pc version is being published by 505 games. Journey doesn't even use Denuvo, and even still they are publised by Annnapurna Interactive, not sony. Only Playstation Mobile is sony's direct link to pc gaming, only a handful of games, and none of them could be considered AAA. But this is all just guesswork, and until a offical statement, it is just hopes and fears.

I really hope they consider not adding any other DRM than Steam.

I do too. I really like this game, and I have heard various bad things about Denuvo. Like limited daily activations and extreme performance issues, along with the fact that it puts a bad mark on the marketability of the game and could hurt sales and opinions of the game.

If Denuvo is implemented correctly, it does not have any 'severe' performance impacts, eg., Doom Eternal. People who make too much noise about it only want the game Denuvo free so that crackers can crack the game day 1 and they can get a free pirated copy on day 1. Stop listening to all those mournings of freeloaders and support a game company that makes quality games, buy a quality game day 1. As far as Denovo activation limit is concerned, they have limits like 5 activations per day. Why do you need to activate a game more then 5 times each day ? Unless you are selling your account information and letting others to play on it illegally. Have you ever formatted your PC five times a day and reinstalled Windows 5 times that will require 5 activations of the game on the same day? Stop supporting lame excuses of freeloaders that support piracy and want to benefit from piracy. Support a quality developer by buying their quality game.

Well I'll be honest, I feel like I've now stepped into a long and heated debate, but I knew this was coming. I know it's not a very utilitarian way of thinking, but mostly I just like the feel of having and owning the game. You many be right, but I am still going to pre-order this game as soon as possible regardless of whatever because it's just straight-up a great game that deserves it. But I also would like the secure feeling I get when I download a game like The Witcher 3. And I know this sounds extra stupid, but I have seen much artwork with Aloy and Geralt together as a good faith between competing companies, and it would a shame for The Witcher 3 to be DRM-free and not Horizon Zero Dawn(well not as much as Denuvo).

It doesn't matter. If it has denuvo, less people will play it therefore less will crave for the PS5 exclusive sequel. If it doesn't, the game will be more accessible but most pirates can barely afford games let alone a game console.
v17 2020 年 3 月 25 日 下午 9:12
Well whatever side you are on with the whole DRM thing, It is ultimately a decision that we don't make, only marginally influence through support and critique. And I didn't say it was DRM-free, only that is possible to be Denuvo free. It's practically guaranteed to have some form of DRM, and steam's implementation is better liked than Denuvo, so it would be a good compromise. But this whole conversation is useless until guerilla or sony themselves gives up feedback on the situation. It could be likely they haven't even decided yet.
Please, no Denuvo, this is the only reason holding me back to buy this game on day 1. PC still has some huge disadvantages regarding gaming, Denuvo is seriously one of them, I really don’t want to admit it.

Same. DRM from Steam is fine. I don’t want this game locks me out few years later because I haven’t played it for some time, and use a pirate patch to fix it awkwardly. The same reason I’m not getting Death Stranding for PC until Denuvo is no longer there

I think the goal is to make the maximum number of people play this game so that in the future they will buy the sequel on PS5.

If they put Denuvo it will only decrease the number of people who would play and potential buyers of the sequel.

Yeah, and I feel this is the best strength of pc gaming. Not that things like high resolution and fps are great, and only some games have modding support. It is a comfort to know that years later I will be able to play this without hoping for backwards compatibility, like how I can still play Fallout 1 and the original Dues Ex, none of the modern consoles can do that.
