Patch Notes for 6/26/2015 - Diagnostic Update
We're releasing a small update to help provide us with diagnostic information, specifically the crashes/connectivity issues that folks have reported and hopefully more information will help us track down the issue. The information gathered will not be used for any other purpose.

Desyncs

In order to help us better track down the source of the Game Authentication Errors we'll be generating some logs which, with your permission, we'll automatically upload to our servers. This is a setting in the game, and can be changed at any time.

The logs contain:

  • Information about the current game state and how it is different from the other people playing the game
  • Some basic system information, such as how many cores you have, and what operating system.
  • Player Trench loadouts
  • The other players involved in the match (including Steam nickname and the Steam unique id)

Even if you don't allow uploads (or if, for some reason, the upload fails), the logs themselves are still going to be written locally at <steam install>\SteamApps\common\ironbrigade\DesyncLogs\ If you wish to submit a report of a Game Authentication Error and we see no uploaded reports from you, we might request for those logs to be sent via email to support@doublefine.com in order to better determine what happened.

Please consider enabling error reporting, since having the logs from everyone involved in a particular match greatly increases the odds of finding out what the problem is.

Minidumps

It would also be a great help if when you encounter a crash (game actually stops working, Windows popup comes up, etc), you send us the minidump that gets generated. THESE ARE NOT AUTO-UPLOADED, but we'd greatly appreciate getting them. The minidump file is just the callstack of the crash and shouldn't contain any personal information. You can find them following these steps:

  1. Go to your game's install directory (on Steam, right-click game name in Library, Select Properties, Local Files, Browse Local Files)
  2. Find the files with the extension mdmp (if you have extensions turned off, they will likely be named something such as 'ironbrigade_5_crash_2015_DATESTAMP')
  3. Place it in your favorite file-sharing site (dropbox, probably)
  4. Send us an email at support@doublefine.com with a link to the file or attached in the email itself if it's small enough (under 2MB). Don't forget to include the usual system information, as well as what you were doing when this happened.

Did you shove 60fps in there? That would of been neat.

The engine was made for console and designed to run at 30fps. It was be a huge undertaking. On the bright side if they ever do it, it will also unlock frame rate for a number of other games they have made. When they do the sequel it will be unlimited(if they know what is good for sales) frame rate.

I've been running Iron Brigade on Linux via Wine. I recognize that is not an officially supported configuration, but I ran into a couple of crashes that are probably limited to this environment. Are you interested in those crash logs as well, or should I keep bugs related to Wine to myself? <hint> Of course, it would be much easier if Iron Brigade was among the majority of DoubleFine titles that have a native Linux build. </hint>

Hm... well, we can look at a couple of them, maybe it's crashing in something consistent and fixable, but that's not really a configuration we support. Make sure you mention your system setup in the email.

And, sorry, a linux build for Iron Brigade is not in the cards :)

THAT IS NOT SOMETHING THEY CAN DO WITH THE CURRENT TEAM SIZE.

Can you explain why?
Why IS it so hard to uncap the frame rate in this game?
Can you provide more information other then BECAUSE IT IS HURDUR

It is locked to 30. They can't just push a button and make it faster; all of the animations are in 30 FPS, amongst other things. They've made more than a few posts about this. All of them say, "Yeah, we're not gonna do this."
