Legend of Keepers: Prologue

Need an EXP System
So I only made it to week 52 my 1st run. Game is definitely on the hard side, but I don't have an issue with that. My only real issue I had with the game is how fast the heroes seem to lv up. When I died it was against lv 4s and my Boss was still lv 1 while I had 4 troops to lv 2. Even if I had to gold to lv troops at every chance I would never be close to keeping up. I have no idea yet how to lv up the boss let alone how to stay competitive with heroes. I think offering some amount of exp to all active units with a marginal at best for unselected units could help with this. It alone won't keep you even in levels as you are switching out units, but it beats having lv 1 troops going up against lv 4+ units. Just an idea. I have no doubt I need to develope more strategies for how to handle different units and once I do I will probably enjoy the game more.

Ok, Just want to say starting my 2nd run I noticed the Boss/Master gets exp from my 1st run. Still would be nice for my other units to be able to lv up from exp durring a run.

Hello,
I’m not sure it’s a good idea for this it will broke the balancing.

The monsters can level up to 5 when heroes can level up to 10.

Your minions are weaker it’s the concept of the game you have to damage as much as you can before they arrive to your master.

But we will boost training of master (against tear / blood)

I get the monsters should be weaker by design, so no argument there. The heroes do outpace our monsters at similar levels though, so maybe giving heroes and champions a possible 5 level advantage may be a little harsh. I am intrigued by this game though. I got my but kicked for 5 runs straight and then I did start developing some strategies and cleared the prologue the last 3 times. Getting more focused I spent gold better and it made having some level 4 monsters possible.

Any idea what the price range of this game will be?

Are the leaderboards with people having over 2 mil legit? I still can't hit a score of 18k.

Are there going to be more Masters than the 3 we see in the prologue?

Oh and thank you for taking the time to respond.

Heroes speed is unchanged when leveling up. Only health, morale and power are affected. The only way for them to get more speed is with the Speed buff passive available only to a limited amount of classes and only starting from tier 2 heroes.

Nice to see you've managed to improve the way you were playing to overcome the difficulty. That's what the game is all about!

The price should be around 20$.

Leaderboards are completely busted atm. That's always the issue with Steam leaderboards. The final game will have its own leaderboards that shouldn't be as easily hackable as the Steam one hopefully.

There's no plans to add a 4th master yet. Everything will depend on how the Early Access goes though.

You're welcome =)

Sounds good. I am looking forward to it's EA release. I guess the only other question I would have is if Master progress will carry over to the release from Prologue? It is currently kind of a grind, but I won't mind still putting time into Prologue and getting the supporter's edition if I am not losing that progress.

Thank you again for the communication. I really appreciate it.

That's pretty unlikely. But we'll implement a real xp curve for masters as well as reworking/balancing the scoring system since then ;)

Yeah, maybe add a score sheet at the end so we know how exactly the score is tallied.
Other than that, I got the supporter's edition to check out the other master and I'll await news on the EA release. I can't wait to see what gets added and what balance changes you make for the Masters. This has definitely given me an interest in the Rogue genre of games that I have mostly passed on in the past.

Thanks for all the communication and the best of luck on the upcoming release.

I've actually found the game very easy. A harder mode would be appreciated.

Honestly after getting used to the game I had a much easier time. Everything becomes easy once you know what you are doing. Now I don't know why I found it as hard as I did the 1st 5 times. I guess there are some bumps in the road when trying something new and i am guessing that is probably the case for many of the other discussions with issues with the game. As the Prologue stands now I find it more than fair.

From what I understand, most of the problem is that we're only playing the first half of the game. Heroes can level up to 10, but in the current game they're only leveling up to 5. This means that the difficulty curve isn't correct. When your monsters are level 2, they should be fighting level 3-4 heroes. When your monsters are level 4, they should be fighting level 7-8 heroes.

Instead, you're bringing level 4 monsters into fights against level 4 heroes. Naturally, this causes battles to become very easy.

My thought to resolve this for the Prologue/Supporters players is to just do a quick and dirty "hard mode". +30% stats on all heroes, or something like that. Wouldn't have to be balanced, or something that remains in final game. Just something to keep people engaged while the rest of the content is being developed.

A easy / hard mode will arrive :) with also a custom mode (to be able to customize the exact difficulty you want).
SneakySlay Feb 9, 2020 @ 11:47am
Introducing easy or hard modes defeats the purpose of creating a challenging game. Either make it a harder game so people need to adapt and come up with various tactics or strategies or the game will suffer the same fate all other rogue-like games that did not pose any challenge, meaning people will abandon the idea of ever playing the game again after they finish it once. Hard mode within a game only introduces an implication that the design was not good enough to stand on its own.
Best not to cling onto superlative comments from people and remember you are trying to make a business and providing just some fun for a short while is bad for it. People will have no incentive to refer the game to other people if the game was barely fun due to the low effort when it comes to learning and overcoming it.

I agree with people that believe the game is not too complicated and the learning curve is not a great one. The game follows 'fool me once' rule and soon after your first failure you catch on way too quickly to consider it a good and engaging fun. Good for one for two playthrough, but not more.

I understand your point of view but as we decided to create a custom mode before, it’s not hard for us to add a preset card / easy.

You have only one ranking mode (with scoring). If you don’t like it you can create your parameters on the difficulty (and maybe duration of a run after), add some modding etc...

It’s not really a popup “easy/normal/hard”
