Xbox Series X controller defense inputs broken

I played the game on Steam recently and noticed a very odd issue. My Xbox Series X controller works almost perfectly, including on the overworld and with all attack inputs. But with defense inputs only, it only works if the prompt is for the Y button. A, B, and X will never work. I even tried using other buttons in case they were mixed up somehow, but you can never successfully defend on this controller unless the input happens to be Y. Very strange.

I have the same problem with Xbox Series controller - the defense prompts during battle always fail and in the free-roam pressing X triggers the costume power (same as B button) instead of candy bag swing. But I found a solution - connecting the controller with a cable solves all of these issues.
