Gloomwood Inspiration
I really like the atmosphere and all the visual of Gloomwood, the feeling and the lore.
I'm trying to find new medias with the same style. Do you guys have any recommendation? It could be a movie, a game, a book, a song, anything.

If the devs see this, I know thief game series is a big inspiration, but is there anything else? I'd be very happy to know!

Bloodborne and Resident Evil are the other two big gaming inspirations from my understanding, though for the latter it's more about game design and general spooky monster stuff, only a few games in the series have the same type of gothic horror vibe as Gloomwood. Speaking of which, Gothic Horror is a whole ass genre that you can look into if you like this games vibe.

It's possible that the Countess is inspired by SHODAN from System Shock. She has the same VA and her plan involves mutating people with parasitic life-forms.

Bloodborne is one of my favorite games. I really like all the gothic/victorian/old horror style, that's one of the reasons Gloomwood is so good for me

Gloomwood is also inspired by Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, along with Thief I, Thief II, Bloodborne, and Dishonored. The Smoke bomb is literally just Daud's Chokedust grenade. https://x.com/TafferKing451/status/1838050430544498842

Arx Fatalis' inventory system, as well as interaction systems is a big thing for Gloomwood, I think.
Also some of the smaller stuff, like the main menu screens are inspired by HL2 and the way they change, depending on your progression. There are lots of these things really.

enemies design reminds me of an indie game popular in the early 2010s: "Sir, you are being hunted"
but if i remember correctly in never released

Terri Brosius also voiced Viktoria in Thief 1 and 2. She is an iconic figure in immersive sim game history. Gloomwood is a huge homage to Looking Glass Studios, which made both Thief and System Shock.

Thief 1,2, and System Shock 2 ran on the same engine, called Dark Engine. A lot of Gloomwood's design and aesthetic is heavily based on it.
