The core gameplay of the two games are really close. If you enjoy Thief, you'll like this game as well and vice versa.
A bit of warning: the first 3 Thief games needs some fixxing if you want it to run well on modern OS. It's really simple you just need to download some patches and done. You can find a lot of videos to help you.
But the fourth Thief/Thief remake can be played without any problem. But the gameplay of Thief 4 is really different compared to the other games.
You could also start with this game then go play Thief. It's up to you.
Another stealth game I recommend is Dishonored.
(Also, Thief 4 doesn't exist)
I would say its not too big of a deal what you play first since there is a good chance you'll end up playing both.
I played Gloomwood first and then went into the thief games, my experience of gloomwood wouldn't be that different if it was vice versa imo
However I can only recommend you play those games.
Not the 2014 one though. Thief Gold, Thief 2 The Metal Age, and Thief 3 Deadly Shadows are the ones.
Thief 2 is really good though
I also think it's pretty lame to tell people to skip the first game when it's important to the story and world, not to mention that saying this is kind of a spoiler, as the supernatural enemies were a welcome twist when I first played the game. And who knows, you may even come to prefer the richness of the world in Thief 1 over Thief 2 like myself
yea Ive heard many good things about those 2 but I decided to work my way from the start when it comes to FM's and try out the notable ones to better appreciate the more complex ones when I get there.
So far I've tried GaTB, Lord Edumund Entertains,Bloodstone Prison, Autumn in Lampfire Hills, Calendras Cistern, and Equilibrium to name a couple. Next on the list is 7th Crystal, Calendras Legacy and Ominous Bequest which Im looking forward to since I heard that its around this point that fm's start considerably going up in terms of quality and complexity.
have you tried dark mod 2.12 yet, if so what are you thoughts on it compared to the previous version?
