I mean, you can only use one, they dont wear off, theres no dual wielding.
The additional guns are there in case you couldnt or didnt grab them earlier.
What would a later update do with them anyway?
I mean, you wont suddenly be able to hold two shotguns.
And i doubt they will add some sort of durability system.
So whats left?
What i did was placing a few items in special areas i might later come across again.
Like leaving ammo in the lighttower.
If you wanted to shotgun only the city, you could leave the revolver there or somewhere else.
In my opinion, the game could make use of more merchant positions to sell and buy (im carrying the same jewelry now through the 5th level from the first area to the city) and also adding more variations to the tools and guns, so they arent exactly the same, also expanding the stash, maybe through an upgrade system.
Personally, considering how vast some areas are and how many items the game throws at you, i feel like this game should have randomized missions in on the map and a hideout.
Basically a bit like an extraction game, without the extraction, but a fixed hideout location on the map.
You go in with a mission, roam the area, steal something you need to steal or murder a special guy, open a safe, retrieve an item or open something, then pick what you can, extract to hideout, sell stuff, buy stuff, equip yourself, do again.
And you still would be able to roam the area.
The lighthouse could be the hideout, where you get new missions and they could add a few more ways to get to it (like with a boat from the fishery), to avoid too much backtracking.
This would keep older areas fresh too.
I felt like i should be revisiting the fishing docks more often with new objectives.
Short answer: Either sell or stuff them in a key location so you can swap around and thus free some inventory space.
But overall? Yeah, I'd say it's better to sell them if you feel confident in your personal management. You don't NEED to though as the Merchant is basically the current end game and the only thing he has of remote value is the monocle.
