I love the blood moon difficulty, but I hate its limited save mechanic
I find the difficulty perfect for me, but having limited saves is kind of ruining it for me. Spending an hour or 2 exploring, scavenging, and clearing areas but unable to save because you don't have any wax tube to save and only to get killed by an unfortunate slip-up and losing all that progress is too damning. Then you have to do all of that exploring, scavenging and killing again makes the game feel needlessly like a chore.

The fact that you can unlock shortcuts to leads back towards the save point tells me you're supposed to go back and save, but the saves being so scarce makes them almost pointless.

iirc they'll be eventually adding a custom difficulty setting, where you can tune everything to your liking

I'm pretty sure you can just enable quick saves in the gameplay tab in options

Ok, you are now complaining because you enjoy it or something. If you read the list of what the difficulty offers, which has limited saves and you chose that as your first playthrough it's entirely on you since you don't know when are good moments to save.

Games of old always hid the hardest difficulty after completing a previous run, behind a run or had everything unlocked but clearly wanted the last difficulty to be played after you gain experience in the game. If you completely ignore this, there are big chances of you finding some problems but that's entirely on you: you got warned by the game with what it has to offer, it's absurd to complain about it.
If you want to do the hardest difficulty blind, then be ready to repeat big segments in exhange of knowledge instead of complaining that you are doing exactly that.

You chose this difficulty willingly, you saw what the difficulty has to offer when selecting it. You wanted this challenge, now you want part of that challenge gone...
I'm not gonna type all the arguments made previously in full lenght, you can just go back and read them. However, the TL,DR version is: I want the enemies as tough as possible and ammo/health as scarce as possible. I can only get this on Bloodmoon difficulty but for some reason the devs decided to attach a savegame mechanic to that difficulty that people already hated when Resident Evil tried to make it mainstream almost 30 years ago. There's literally no downside to just adding a small box in the main menue that let's you check and uncheck the limited saves mechanic. You can check the box because you have played the game a gazillion times and take pride in your awesome ability to memorize the location of objects in a video game. And I can uncheck the box so I don't have to play the game multiple times to enjoy the difficulty setting I actually want to play the game in. I want to be challenged because I mess up a timing or misjudge an enemies patrol route and not because I don't have the time to play through the game multiple times just so I can memorize some stupid wax cylinder locations.

So, it's pretty late now, but why didn't you use the quicksaves? You're not supposed to, but you can quicksave on Bloodmoon difficulty.
If you just want rid of the wax cylinders, limit yourself to quicksaving when at a phonograph, and since you're not picking the cylinders up or you don't have any anymore, you can even use the phonograph and have a spin at it when you quicksave to convince yourself that you're using it to save.

This way you have the difficulty (low health, heavy enemy damage, low ressources and numerous enemy placements) while still being able to save.

I love wax cylinders in gloomwood as much as I love ink ribbons in resident evil so I'd prefer blood moon to stay the way it is.
But I hope when the devs add custom difficulty everyone will be pleased.

+1 Custom difficulty will be epic, I can't wait to make my own "impossible" difficulty and somehow win anyway. lol

blocking users on steam for having bad opinions is so funny like if that was your goal you'd block 99% of users not half of them
