so i found out the fun way what happens when you put 451 into the or i guess any safe? i tried the same code with the safe in the seacave at the beginning but now i need to ask, did it despawn the gun and 2 did you simply change the code or do i just need to find the gun in a new place?

The code is the same from what I can tell. If you thought it was 451 then you're miss-remembering the original code.

the sea cave's safe code has always been 415 as far as i know, while 451 is the goofy secret code that makes every safe explode and give worse loot. reasonable mistake!

Afaik since release day the code has been 363.

When the game first released the code could be found in the lighthouse, though as that was the end of the game at the time it was more of a fun little thing to use after finishing the available content. However now it can be found as soon as you exit the caverns/mines into the coast level. Down by the water is a small rowboat with a treasure map that has the code and points to the safe's location. Conveniently located right next to the shortcut right back to the fishery. And of course with repeated runs it can be gotten right away which is neat. And naturally even if that's missed it's now up for purchase in the merchant's shop

It's on a piece of paper found in the lighthouse basement.
