Where's the source for this?
It is. It just sucks so hard that Team Omocat has so much nonsense surrounding them these days. The association seriously hinders the ability to enjoy the game.
They were asked at the announcement of the console ports if the extra stuff was being added to Steam. Crickets. Then they were asked why the stuff wasn't added to Steam. Crickets. Then the Xbox port got pull and they were asked what happened. You guessed it, crickets.
They have all this time to constantly make and advertise merchandise of all kinds but somehow they can't spare five minutes to clear some easy questions up. It's still happening with other stuff to this day.
White knights who have no information on the matter are more than happy to do grown ass peoples' jobs for them, though! "They had to do some stupid deal where Steam couldn't get it if they wanted it on consoles. Nintendo's fine with Sony and Microsoft, the two biggest competitors on the console market, having it but a $10 DLC on Steam is the bridge too far." Someone seriously expected this to sound plausible.
Tolerating nonsense like this is why so many problems in the game industry stick around so long. Demand better treatment and don't put up with devs not doing the bare minimum, no matter how good their product is. We deserve better.
I stand by what I said in my Steam review: From now on, only buy this on here when it's on sale and get the gamebanana mod to enjoy the console content. Boycott the console port so devs don't try to be clever in getting more of your money.
Source: My ass.
I said it before and I say it again: The console exclusive nonsense was a bad idea from day one. It made people who were already mad at OMO have another reason to be mad and it just made the team look greedy. The bare minimum they could've done was issue a follow-up explanation for their actions.
Someone said to me in response that Toby did this too with Undertale and nobody complained, but at least there each console had its' own unique content and they TRIED to make it look like the Switch version with the Mew Mew boss could only be done on the console.
In Omoris' case, it's the exact same across the board with no one getting the leg up and leaving no reason not to have it be a timed exclusive at most with a $10 DLC upgrade down the line. Now that there's a mod correcting this nonsense, there's no reason not to just get the Steam version on sale and boycott the console ports so this doesn't happen again.
