OMORI

Continue playing after the ending?
I just finished the game, but would like to keep playing to complete the optional quests I didn't do. However when I charge my save I go back to right before the ending, before the fight against Omori with apparently no way of going back.

Is there a way to go back and do more stuff, or is it my fault for not making backup saves?

At the point in the game you're at there's no way to go back to dreamworld. On the bright side there's actually someone who compiled a list of save files so that people don't have to worry about redoing everything to get back to the same point in the game here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2427987937&searchtext=save+files

If you want to keep playing after the games ending though, I highly recommend you do the other route in the game instead of just finishing the side quests in this route since you're going to get a lot more content, side quests and bosses to fight if you do so on the last day in the other route. (until that last day though the two routes are pretty much identical, other than you not going outside anymore and a few other minor differences so I would just grab one of the save files where the person had already gotten past all that). Things just kind of flow better when you stick to finishing off side quests in the hikikomori route in my opinion. Some lead to additional side quests you simply don't have in the route you took.

Thanks a lot! But what is this "other route" you're talking about? I didn't notice any possibility for alternate endings except at the very end, and I don't want to risk spoiling myself too much by looking at guides.

The other route is the Hikikomori route which happens if you decide to never open the door and talk to Kel that very first morning. If you don't you get locked into that route instead. The route merely shows what would have happened if Sunny never decided to face his problems, and just dives deeper and deeper into escapism.

Like I said, it's mostly the same as the other route, so there's not much you're really going to be spoiled on that you weren't already told from playing the game the first time. About the only difference for most of the game is there's no town segments. They're replaced with a chore minigame, and there are some dialog changes when you finally find Basil. The main difference really that make people play it is simply on the very last day you get a bunch of extra bosses, and stuff to do. It's mostly just extra content in headspace for people looking for some more stuff to do after beating the game which is why it's a good route to try if you're still itching for more content and side quests.
