Kel has been calling Sunny literally every week even though Sunny wouldn't respond to any of his messages.
Hero has been wracked with guilt because he believed he couldn't save Mari from herself despite being closest to her.
My personal opinion? I don't see a reason why the gang wouldn't forgive Sunny, especially since it's an accident.
Unlike you, Sunny himself has absolutely no doubt in his mind that his friends will forgive him. After all, literally the last thing he has to do before he can come clean is kill Omori who represents all the self loathing and the doubt that his friends would forgive him.
If you want closure, you have to erase the Omori that's still somewhere inside of you.
