Spending money in Faraway Town?
I am really trying to avoid spoilers, so I hesitate to even ask any questions in here, but what's the deal with spending money in Faraway Town? There just seems to be so many things to spend money on and they all seem pointless. Like, I bought all the items in the capsule machine to see what would happen, but it ended up costing $30 and felt like a waste, so I reloaded my game. Also, I just found out you can sell items to Hobbeez, but I'm not sure if I should sell the Gold Watch I got from the Hobo. Like, is it useful in some way? The other thing is, I feel like something bad might happen if I spend too much money. Like, right now I'm at the part where you're trying to find Aubrey to get the Photo Album back for Basil, but I can't help but wonder "Is she going to demand money for it? What if I don't have enough after helping the hobo, the guitarist, buying all the capsule machine toys, etc? Part of me is tempted to just play the game without seeking answers, and face any potential consequences, but then I remember how I always end up getting the bad ending in games without realizing it (Don't even get me started on how that ended up happening in Vanguard Bandits for PS1...). Anyway, if anyone can give me some insight here without any spoilers, that would be much appreciated.

Money in Faraway Town is mainly for two things, none of which affects the story. One of them is for buying food or accessories for flavor text. The other is for healing items that you might want for a fight to get an achievement. The "Gold" watch is meant to be like the one in Headspace where it is meant to be sold for money. I vaguely remember an NPC asking for a specific item that gets you dialogue after, but I don't remember if that's for progress on an achievement or just story element. That's as much as I remember.

So I can spend it on whatever without an issue? Cause I kinda wanna buy all the capsule toys. xD

Of course you can buy all the capsules with toys! I also advise you to check each toy, one of them will be special.

There are additional quests/achievements that require a certain amount of money to complete, but don't worry, you will be able to earn them

If you're trying to get certain achievements, there are specific items you can get using money. Other than that, there isn't much use for it.

There are people asking you for a donation, cats demanding a specific food... if you want to get all the achievements you should use your money on them, but that's optional. You can always take jobs for earning more money.
But money is not needed for the progress of the game.
