Abbi is the Wisest of the Great Creatures, who tried to rebel against Omori, probably wanting Sunny to remember the truth, but was imprisoned in the Abyss for her troubles.

I'm pretty sure she embodies Sunny's wisdom or intellect, as possessed to Humphrey the Oldest, which represents his base instincts.

There is an character named "Branch Coral" you meet in deeper well, who gives a brief explanation for the "Great Creatures", including Abbi. You are supposed to meet and talk to him before you find Abbi.
