(SPOILER) questions about ending
First of all, I finished the game recently and came across a reddit post where someone claimed that Mari was still alive when she was hung, and just merely unconscious when she fell down the stairs, and supposedly this is why her eyes snapped open when she was hung.

Is there any actual confirmation this is true? because if it is it makes the situation 1000x worse.

Secondly, I'd like to ask you all if you personally think that Hero, Kel & Aubrey would've forgiven Sunny & Basil or not.

No, it actually can't be true, she was pointedly not breathing by the time Sunny set her to bed. (I was a believer in this theory once). That thing in action movies where you close the eyes of the dead is actually really hard to do. Her eyes being open is all rigor mortis.

about wether or not sunny's friends will forgive sunny and basil, i think they'll eventually forgive sunny but i don't think they'll forgive basil since basil was more directly involved with the incident than sunny was

Hero is the oldest of the group. He can see how Sunny and Basil have suffered in the past few years, and he would once again step up and reaffirm his supportive role. He goes to school out of town, so he knows that life moves on, and he has the power to make that process more positive not only for himself, but for his younger friends who he has been deeply caring for.

Kel is about making friends rather than enemies. He easily made amends with Aubrey with a little help from Hero, I can't see this cheerful boy would bring himself to hate Sunny and Basil, especially when his order brother is pointing at the right direction on how to go forward.

Aubrey on the other hand, is a tricky subject. She has different upbringing that did not involve caring parents and a sibling that can always be relied upon. She could rely on Hero's guidance, if she wishes, but Hero would be gone once summer break is over, and Sunny would already have left before that. Her life would move on, but probably not with Kel and Basil but more with Kim and Vance. Not saying she couldn't forgive Sunny and Basil's actions, but maybe forgiveness is a luxury that, like many things in her life, she can live without.

Off topic: anyone else feeling Aubrey would be a good side character in a Life is Strange game? lol

Regarding Aubrey; I actually thought she would have forgiven them with time, because there's one point in the game where she pushes Basil into some water (similarly to how Sunny pushed Mari) and he could well have died had Hero not been around. So maybe that entire scenario was there to help her come to the realisation that sometimes emotions get the better of people, and accidents can happen in the heat of the moment.

Aubrey is definitely a wildcard, as if the story is to continue, her character could really go opposite directions depending how it's written. I suppose it's easier for her not to hate her old friends, but actual forgiveness feels like a reward that requires a figurative journey for her to undertake.

It is known that not, because (as far as I know) it is impossible that Mari was alive when she was hanged since first; if you lack air you pass out and consequently later you die because the air does not reach the brain.
And the fact of "Something" was because they both turned towards the tree at the wrong time when she had a spasm.

At this point do not believe me in the entirety since I do not know anything about anatomy or medicine.

Technically Mari died while falling down the stairs

In my opinion (headcanon, theory, whatever you want to call it) they were both forgiven; more out of empathy than out of friendship.

Since it is the healthiest thing for everyone, they would not want to relapse into that pain that each one of them went through. Of course, at first it will be very difficult for them to accept what they did and that the forgiveness will not be "you killed Mari and your Basil hid it, OK we forgive you" but they would know that Mari would not want them to be angry or fight with each other the others, that they have matured enough and that to forgive them is to forgive themselves because they were not together when they really needed each other.

They may have a little mistrust at first but they would accept the fact that it was a fight between brothers that got out of control... although it is very complicated because of the "help" that Basil did, but I think it would be a point that perhaps they they will ignore (they would think of their grandmother's death).

I do believe theres en element of personal interpretation to it but personally i think she was dead on the stairs. she could have possibly lived but i think with the waiting in bed and all the effort to get her on the tree, its unlikely she wouldn't have woken up until she was hung. I also think it was from the stairs because her reassurance is directed at Sunny and no Sunny and Basil from what i remember. and in reference to the other question i like to believe that they do forgive him just in time, and some quicker than others. i feel like Kel especially and possibly Hero wouldn't take too long to forgive him but Aubrey would take more time and convincing. But personally i like to think that the five of them would be good friends again at some point, what're your thoughts
