Yo is this game scary?
Ive seen the reviews and all but nobody is talking about the horror part in it. Is it some weird ass ♥♥♥♥ filled with jumpscares, twisted faces etc or is it like some subtle horror that anyone can handle. Im def not a fan with horror and scary ♥♥♥♥ but this game seems interesting af and i wanna see just how bad it can "mentally damage" me or something like the reviews say. Pls someone respond honestly about the horror on a scale from 1-10

I would rate it abt a 4. It’s horror that I think most people would be able to handle. Honestly the horror element in the game is just used to convey sunny’s darker thoughts (in my opinion).

Note that I haven’t finished the game yet

so is it kinda like binding of isaac level horror or undertale horror

I'm not big on horror either, but yeah, it's far more tame then the typical screamer-filled/jumpscare-laden RPG horror game. Not to say it's entirely free of it, but instead of trying to knock you off your chair it's a mild shock. A quick glimpse of something uncomfortable in the distance or such, in a sense.

If you want to test the waters, you could check a playthrough until the point a door is knocked on and (optionally) opened by the player in the real world at night time after waking up the first time (the first part in the dream world is essentially a tutorial anyway until you wake up). If a scare of that level is tolerable, you'll be fine.

Either way, no full blown screamers, fortunately. And be prepared for creepiness if you (optionally) check the real world mirrors or interact with black holes/stains from Keys. I find a lot of the creepy stuff is optional to engage, you could give it a wide berth or minimally interact with it if it's too uncomfortable.

Edit: Never found BoI or Undertale overly horrifying (though photorealistic youknowwho was a sucker punch, didn't appreciate that in a cutesy RPG). It's definitely a step up in scary from anything found those games, given it has some rare few minor jumpscares.
And considering the subjects it handles... Well, expect plenty of creepiness in certain moments.

I would agree with the horror being on the low side, around a 3 or 4. It's not jump scare/ loud noise startle you cheap horror. It's more like looking out your bedroom window at night as a kid, worried there might be someone standing out there, and you psych yourself out. But sometimes in Omori there is something out there, something you only see for a second before it melts into the shadows. It's more uneasiness and weirdness than jumpscare.
Also any reviews that might say anything about "mental damage" are likely not referring to the horror aspect, but to the heavy subject matter. It touches on anxiety, depression and suicide. If you are not in a place to handle some of those topics they can really cause some damage.

TL;DR the Horror aspect isn't too scary, but the heavy mental topics are what you need to be prepared for.
There are some small jumpscares
but they don't make you scream
they're more like: "Oh i didn't expect that" and then you ask yourself what that thing even was that you saw

It's really not much of a jumpscare kind of game. Most of the horror comes from your own imagination. There were many moments where I was getting creeped out just by imagining the implications of certain things, and getting an uneasy feeling from that. On the horror scale I'd rank it maybe a 5 out of 10.

i think there's only a couple of proper jump scares at the very beginning, the horror primarily stems from being disturbing.
pretty scary imo, but i absolutely never play horror games kek but i think there are jumpscare guides or whatever out there if that helps

OMORI does have jumpscares but they don't have loud noises that make you jump like fnaf or DDLC does. There's like 3 jumpscares iirc. But there is content that may be disturbing or unsettling. Horror rating for me is like a 5 or 6. It is like undertale's (genocide route) horror but cranked up a few numbers

The game is much more about the psychological horror aspect. Specifically, the content warning it has. If you are or think may be suffering with depression, anxiety or suicidal thoughts i currently cannot recommend playing this game it will probably make you a lot worse, it won't make you any better at least. Speaking from personal experience. Games like "Celeste" or "missed messages." (by Angela He) helped me. But this game will not do that.

If you aren't bothered about stuff like that then yeah i recommend it. It's very well made. It feels very human. And it's fun and lasts you about 20hrs. Music and the art is very good too.

Hope that helps answer your question.

Omori is a physiological horror, but yes there is a few jumpscares. They arent loud, mostly disturbing. I think the only times it actually scared me with a jumpscare was [s]the knocking at the door in real world[/s] and [s]slime sister experiment 661[/s]
