I don't remember what the average/expected level is when you're there, but the cap is 50, so, hm... I'm guessing 20 to 30 covers it? (If in doubt, grind a little more!) Also perhaps useful, Angry enemies give more XP, whereas Happy enemies give either more or better items or have a better item droprate, or so i heard. No bonus for Sad enemies though. Kel's the fastest so you could annoy the enemy with him and whoop em with your teammates for extra XP.
It's generally a good idea to keep your level comfortably high in the future, skipping out too much will hurt you a lot vs bosses (despite the game still being quite easy if you basically go as far as to clear out every enemy you see for the first time on the map, with only a few repeat encounters). I'm making a guess that level 30> is good for what comes after the Last Resort.
Both his grunts take damage for him, so AoE isn't necessary if you keep targeting Jawsum but an AoE will hurt both gators twice. Jawsum makes his entire team angry so being happy will reduce their damage and boost yours. Mock also reduces attack if the target is angry, though Jawsum himself does not attack so you'll need to aim for a gator.
Oh, and good luck with the boss immediately after Jawsum.
(seriously, look up the guides)
