With that being said i would love an epilogue, since it'd be awesome to see how all the characters would have grown like you see in a lot of games.
It really isn't a good ending at all, it just spares you by ending it at the moment before everything collapses all over again.
That is why it ends where it ends, if omocat would have gone farther, a whole new story would begin.
i'm not really sure about what you mean? it feels like sunny was forgiven, based off the secret ending (which is by the way the only time where we get to see him flash a genuine smile for the first time in the entire game), same for basil. and even if this wasn't the case then you could argue that they'll be forgiven.
aubrey was quite literally in the exact same situation as sunny, just a lot less consequential. she pushed basil into the lake and her world sprite could be seen frowning from what she's done.
while most argue that hero wouldn't forgive sunny, i believe it is the opposite; hero always blamed himself for not seeing mari's underlying problems that led her to her alleged suicide. knowing she didn't, in fact, kill herself would take off a huge weight off his shoulders because he would know he wasn't the one to blame for her death.
honestly, i can't really find a lot of arguments that tell that kel would forgive sunny. it would seem that he is the closest one to sunny? (and the only one consistently trying to reach out to him, despite knowing sunny might never answer because he's a shut-in). i would argue that he would forgive sunny because of their friendship.
all in all the story is pretty tragic and i can't see them making these decisions to forgive overnight. but friends are supposed to be there for each other.
if you mean like content-wise or an OMORI 2, maybe? i don't really see a sequel coming out any time soon, the story is quite complete by itself.
That's good for them but i just imagined the reaction of all the other friends when they learn that one of their best friends killed (by accident?) Mari and then staged her death, descieving them for years.
Wouldn't be easy to handle if you ask me and they probably would need some time to cope with that and not instantly forgive him on the spot.
Hell, could you ever forget or forgive something like that entirely?
I don't think so. Hero was in love with Mari and now he learns that his best friend caused her death and lied to him about it for years.
That is heavy stuff. Maybe he would hate Sunny at first, wouldn't be unrealistic.
Idk, at least that's how i see it.
To me it's far from an happy end.
It's a "good" ending in the sense that Sunny stops running from the truth but everything else isn't fixed after that.
I can understand your point of view, but i think you're forgetting that all of them sympathise with Sunny and Basil, especially Sunny. Even if the truth is painful, i wholeheartedly believe they would learn to forgive with time. Aubrey and Hero still have a hard time coping with it, though as hard hitting truth, atleast they wouldn't guilt themselves for it, knowing that it actually wasn't suicide. Obviously Sunny regrets it, the guy literally shuts in for longer than 3 years, i think they can understand his perspective after this last resort confession during the hospital cutscene. Not sure about Basil though, especially with the entire framing from his side. Nevertheless Basil was tortured by guilt and regret just like Sunny was. Hero being the most rational out of the group would probably understand Sunny and learn to value forgiveness over pent up anger, since he himself reminds others that nows the time to be there for each other instead of turning away from everyone, but that's just my idea on it.
