(spoiler) you can avoid the first one by simply not opening the door for Mari.
this is not a horror game, it has intense psychological horror elements but it is not the focus.
its worth it, trust me.
(Spoiler) You can also avoid a few jumpscares by simply not looking into the mirrors in the real world
Well, atleast it has "cues" for when spooky stuff may occur, and it's supposedly quite tame on that front, from what i heard. Worst i've seen so far is if you open the door in that one moment early on, though supposedly i'm like halfway through progress-wise. Dunno if worse is yet to come.
Ah well, guess all i could do is push on and hope it doesn't lead to regrets... Didn't start it entirely blindly, so going into blind territory is uh... Yeah... Not really looking forward to it when stuff gets creepy...
I think the horror, if you can even call it that, mostly come from the themes the game deal with it. Not saying anything more than this here so I don't spoil anyone, but while the dream world is funny and happy, the circurstance of it's existance is anything but.
It's a pretty nice story driven game, and even while I didn't like some gameplay mechanics (mostly the combat because I dislike JRPG overall), even if you dislike horror games, this one is still worth a shot.
Good news, though : the scary parts are less than 20 % of the game so I still recommend you give it a shot. But some jumpscares are unavoidable, unless you don't explore or play the game with the eyes half-closed lol.
That being said, this game doesn't abuse them and imo they're very well placed and fitting to the experience, and they're never too extreme.
