Why does the name selection have a profanity filter in it?

I mean I would understand for a multiplayer game or something where a name is public but it doesn't make too much sense for a game where your name is just in text.

Thanks for the help DO-CTOR lol, but hopefully the devs see this and can provide some actual insight on why they have a weird idiotic filter in a single player game.

Considering that loads of people do Let's Plays of games such as this one it's very possible that they didn't want some players naming the character something highly disrespectful considering the serious content of the game. I guess it can be kinda funny sometimes to name your character something silly but I don't get why some people would get all upset that they can't. Although, I could understand why if the censor is so strong it's preventing you from using your actual name.

Could be due to some of those names taking seriousness away from dialogues and the dev not liking that possibility, since it would affect the overall experience of someone who wouldn't be taking the game seriously at first. Also lots of dialogues could be straight-up ruined.

Dang. If it's that strict then yeah, I see how it can be annoying. I always default to a protagonist's official name (if applicable) when given the option, so I've never really been affected by filters like these.

This is incredibly obnoxious and unacceptable for a singleplayer game. It is none of the developers business what I want to call my characters. Heaven for fend I choose a name where a random sub-string is a 'bad word'. This just screams the asinine 'think of children' or 'our artistic masterpiece must be experienced exactly the way we, the developers, intended' BS.

I have refunded the game over this nonsense because I do not want to financially support any developer that engages in the kind of behavior.
