TROUBLESHOOTING
"MY GAME DOES NOT START AT LAUNCH, BUT I CAN SEE THE PROCESS IN THE TASK MANAGER"

This problem is related to the core framework of the game, NW.js, which sometimes does not work well with Steam launcher. If you come across this problem, first makes sure that your Steam is in administrator mode. https://www.online-tech-tips.com/gaming/how-to-run-steam-as-admin-and-why-you-may-need-to/

Then you can try one of two things:

Delete the User Data of the NW.js folder directly. Path:
— WINDOWS: AppData\Local\nwjs\
— MAC: ~/Library/Application Support/nwjs/

Delete the User Data folder inside the OMORI folder. Path:
— WINDOWS: AppData/Local/OMORI
— MAC: ~/Library/Application Support/OMORI

Note: If you see the Cutscene.json in this file, you don’t need to delete it. However if you do, the only change will be that you will not be able to skip any pre-boss cutscenes that you’ve already seen.

After doing this, please check if the game still works.

For Windows: You can also try to look inside into the properties of "steam.exe" and to set it to Run in Administrator Mode. Then close Steam, restart your PC, and try to open Steam again. If Windows gives you a notice about "Compatibility Mode" and that it can cause error, you can disregard it and open your library to try to start the game. After this process, if the game works, you should be able to remove Administrator mode from steam.exe and the game should still run.

"THE GAME CRASHES AFTER THE SPLASH SCREEN OR WHEN I LOAD MY SAVE FILE" / "MY SAVE FILE WON'T LOAD / “MY SAVE FILE IS CORRUPTED”

After reviewing the bug reports, most of these errors seems to happen when the user attempts to edit/change/delete certain kind of files inside the game. Before reporting, please “Verify the Integrity of Game Files” through Steam. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335. We highly suggest not to alter the game files in anyway (like using save editors) because it will cause unexpected behaviors in the game.

We also highly suggested to not close the game where you're in SAVE screen and return back to the game before quitting. The patch will improve this system a little, but returning back to the game would be safest.

“THE GAME IS LOOKING FOR MISSING FILES OR IS ONLY SHOWING A BLACK SCREEN”

If the game is doing this, please “Verify the Integrity of Game Files” through Steam https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335 before reporting the issue as a bug. Editing default game files or trying to start a new game outside of Steam will cause this to happen.

“THE STEAM OVERLAY DOES NOT CLEAR WHEN CLOSED”

Unfortunately, this is a bug related to NW.js, the framework for RPG MAKER MV (OMORI’s game engine). We're working on it but will need more time to solve it completely. For the time being, tabbing out and back into the game should clear any graphical issues.

“I AM RUNNING INTO PROBLEMS WITH THE LATEST PATCH”

Try to close Steam and restart it. If that doesn't work, you can roll back to a previous version by going to Steam Options > Preferences > Betas, and then selecting the version you'd like to roll back to. Please also report the bug so we can be aware of the issue.

WARNING! If you save the game in a newer version and then rollback, it can create issues, so we would highly suggest against this.

“I WANT TO LOCK MY GAME TO 60 FPS (FOR V1.0.0)"

OMORI V1.0.1 contains a system for locking FPS to 60. However, It seems that locking the FPS to 60 makes the game laggy and glitchy for certain players. For this reason, in OMORI V1.0.2 this argument has been removed by default. If you are interested in locking your game FPS to 60, you can do this by inserting the following argument through Steam command line options (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1040-JWMT-2947&l=e): --limit-fps=60

I AM EXPERIENCING A BUG... “CANNOT READ PROPERTY 'RESOLUTION' OF UNDEFINED"

This is a common error that seems to happen with certain kinds of hardware with Web Technologies. Unfortunately, we do not have control of the low api of our framework (NW.js/Chromium) and the error is specifically triggered when the "WebGL context" is lost. The best approach for this would be to:

- Update you graphic drivers
- Don't have other GPU/CPU intensive activities running if you're playing the game
- If you use Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Brave, etc.), update them to their last version or re-install them

“I WOULD LIKE TO FORCEFULLY RESTORE MY GAME CONFIGURATION"

If your game configuration is acting strange (ex. missing buttons), you can restore the original game configuration by going in OPTIONS > SYSTEM > ""RESTORE DEFAULT CONFIGURATION"". If you are unable to do this, you can restore your original configuration by going in the save folder of your game and deleting the config.rpgsave file.

“MY SAVE FILES ARE GONE! THE GAME CANNOT LOAD THEM AND IT PLAYS AN ERROR SOUND!"

Don't worry! Your save files are not really gone. Inside your save folder, there is another file called global.rpgsave that has possibly been corrupted. To avoid this, we recommend players to not close the game inside the save/load menu.

You can try to restore your corrupted global.rpgsave by going inside OPTIONS -> SYSTEM -> RESTORE DEFAULT CONFIGURATION. After restoring the configuration, the game will give a confirmation prompt asking if you would like to recover global.rpgsave. After confirming, the game will try to restore your save files. If the process is successful, you will see your save files again in the save/load menu.

“I AM EXPERIENCING INFINITE LOADING SCREENS BETWEEN MAP TRANSITIONS AND/OR AUDIO CONTEXT IS BEING LOST"

This problem can randomly happen to certain hardware. If your loading screen is stuck, try to tab in/out of the game. Some other users also reported that having your audio settings on 384kHz can create random freezes in the game. Lowering the audio frequency to 192kHz seems to resolve most of the issues.

“MY GAME IN FULLSCREEN MODE LOOKS BLURRY"

This problem is caused mostly by monitor and system resolutions. You can check your screen resolution and then open the game in fullscreen after changing your zoom settings:

Windows: (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/use-magnifier-to-make-things-on-the-screen-easier-to-see-414948ba-8b1c-d3bd-8615-0e5e32204198#:~:text=Press%20the%20Windows%20logo%20key%20%2B%20Ctrl%20%2B%20M%20to%20open%20the,adjust%20the%20zoom%20level%20accordingly.)
MacOS: (https://mcmw.abilitynet.org.uk/macos-mojave-magnifying-screen)

"I WANT TO ADD CUSTOM LAUNCH OPTIONS"

Unfortunately, versions higher than V1.0.0 have a problem with the custom launch options that can be set in Steam hub which can cause the game to not start or get stuck on a black screen. We are currently trying to understand how to solve this problem for later versions.

Finally got the game myself. In Linux. I can get the game running but no matter what I do, the graphics are cut in half.

Like... Draw a line through the screen from top left to bottom left.

Anywhere below that line, make the graphics lines go straight down. Can't read all the dialogue, can't see the characters face, etc.... Was really looking forward to playing this....
Hi! I'm having issues opening/launching the game. I haven't had any issues before, then updated my computer software a few weeks ago (Mac intel), and now the game doesn't show up on the screen even though it appears on the Task Manager. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, have tried the proposed solutions given here, but couldn't execute them fully because there were no User Data files within the game files. I have tried all solutions I found online, to no avail. If someone has any ideas I would be grateful to hear them
