ok honestly how many of you actualy won kaiba vs yugi
Im talking about the first duel Coz Kaiba cards are pure trash
meanwhile yugi has two swords of light. monster reborns black hole and raigeki and
kaiba has.... hmmm blue eyes white dragon thats about it.....

Did anyone actualy win the duel?
It really feels like in anime yugi just had the worst hand ever and hearth of the cards was janking his pepe

Yes I won. I fully admit that the main reason is luck.

im playing the older version and can not beat grandpa with kaiba. its like they give the cpu a fully functional deck built for a strategy and you get starter deck kaiba.

personaly I feel like they have pre set card orders coz some times I could predict what they draw
Almost like I could feel their hearth of the cards...
Oh look that one mirror force he has in deck. Then the murder all card one and I bet he got murder card two now and it was almost every single time

I want to restrain myself from doing my own deck untill I beat the duel with bouth sides but couple of the duels feel fixed or you need to do that one gimic like Mais Harpy lady crap with all the boosts or else you dont have the dmg to win

The story decks are crap and they are crap because they are based off of gimmicks that came from the scripted anime. The original series was especially ridiculous because very often the cards did absurd stuff while the real life cards were different and not as good, like Call of the Haunted.

Often it requires luck with the story decks where the ai draws poorly and/or you drawing well to beat certain matches with the story decks.

I only managed to do it once I had my vehicroid deck haha

I know that it can work from seing it done elsewhere but i never managed it myself.
Outside of Yugi consequently bricking his hand, there's little you can do with KaibaÄs story deck.
You have nothing to take care of "Heart of the Underdog", Yugi's main gimmick, your own spells and traps are mostly support and stalls, something directly detrimental to you and the overall speed of the deck is glacial.

It is tailor made to lose against Yugi's deck and it shows.

Honestly? Yugi bricked something fierce and I managed to frame 1 god draw with Rules and Blue Eyes, allowing me to mop the floor with him.

It's completely luck.

The story decks are pretty much like the shows? Feels like they rely more on plot armour/ BSium and A pulls to work. Plus, a lot of the story fights feel like deck tailoring, only work for that opponent etc.

That's exactly what they are supposed to be.
The story decks are meant to showcase very specific combos / mechanics or replicate moments from the show.
Yugi's deck only works because Kaiba's specifically doesn't have any answers to it.
His backrow is completely safe, allowing easy buildup of 3x "Heart of the Underdog",
He has plenty of field wipes and Kaiba has nothing to protect / recover from it.
Due to the HotU gimmick, Yugi's deck is full of monsters, making it significantly faster than Kaiba's too, which in turn makes it a threat even beyond its gimmick.

Yea I do kinda like that Anime decks were spacific. My issue was more when the NPC had decks that were not, my first example was Mie and her Harpy lady. man my true deck struggled with that let along joy's ax raider pass. I mean half of her harpy deck wasn't even printed/from the anime but later sets. Which made them basicly unfair against Joey's Deck. At the same time where would you fight them. I mean it's not like some of the DS title were you have to dual a Harpy J peg using a full powered harpy deck with all the support for the time.

The reverse duel in the campaign? I have pulled it off with the story deck a few times.

I am no expert on this game but...

Strategy if you can even call it that, is think short term, get big monsters out as early as possible and hit hard. Don't be thinking about a plan B because by the time you get that going, you have probably lost.

In other words... get very lucky with the cards you draw, while the Heart of the Cards fails Yami Yugi.

Kaiba's story deck can't do anything about the magic or trap zone (as a previous poster pointed out) making the swords of revealing light, heart of the underdog combo super deadly.

It also can't attack the hand in any way... So getting an Exodia piece to the graveyard isn't going to happen once it is drawn.

It also can't attack the deck to force Exodia cards straight to the graveyard. (Though this approach can backfire either when cards that break the heart of the underdog chain go to the grave yard instead, or cards that aren't the forbidden one, and don't help getting the forbidden one to the hand are the ones to go... which basically means fewer draws for him to get the forbidden one.)

And to top it off: Kaiba's traps that boost life points rarely are going to help the situation. And Crush Card Virus (I think?) allows Yami Yugi to get 3 draws closer to the win when Kaiba uses it.

It is a terrible match up for Kaiba. Play it a million times and your bound to win it once. (probably wont take a literal million.) This is one that even if Kaiba does everything right, he will lose a lot more than he wins vs the AI with this deck.

Won every duel, reverse included, up until 5D's with the original decks on Switch. Many of them took me many tries because of how unbalanced the match-ups are. Awful decks all around until the end of GX. It gets way better in 5D's with Synchros but some of the reverses are still pretty hard.

So, yeah, like others said before me, just keep retrying until you get lucky.

I gave up on that. As someone who played YuGiOh in reality that "destroy all enemy monsters and pay nothing for it lmfao" card is so weird OP. It wasn't even allowed afaik. xD And Kaibas deck is the worst deck I've ever seen. Combined with Yugis weird cheater deck. Of course I could rip him a new one with a costum deck that actually makes sense. But with Kaibas L deck I'm so lost. I'm not that good, but browsed if people were able to win this dumpster fire. :redenvelopeox: Also once you get that stupid dragon, that Kaiba has such a boner for, out - it just has 3000 ATK. This is nothing when Yugi destroys your dragon soon after and you can't get to his 8000 points. And Kaibas stupid tribute monsters are weaker than most 3-4 star monsters. What a stupid deck, even for oldschool standards.
