Why are the story decks absolute garbage?
I didn't play any yugioh game in over ten years yet the garbage makeshift deck I built from booster packs from the first generation is way better then any of the story decks the campaign gives you. In fact I scratch my head in bewilderment at some of the choices the decks made. Meanwhile the enemy decks are built together like an actual real deck somebody would use.

they are anime accurate. no need to be good or bad, just accurate, and they do a damn good job of making the most accurate anime decks that still are viable.

Well, the story decks are not bad, when you draw the right cards. And because the decks are "garbage" you learn a lot but the amount of evrey card is not accurate. In one story deck Obelisk the tormentor is three times in it, but when I recall the Anime correctly, there was only one copy of every god card in the entire series. The AI opponent has just more luck, in the duel against Titan, he had Infernalqueen Archfiend on the field and then he actually rolled 2 and 5 in a row to negate card effects like in the Anime. The chance that this happens is 2.7%. The chance to draw the same card you don't need is also pretty low, but happened to me more often than it should actually irl, especially when there are more cards in the deck that could save you.

3x copies are so that you can draw into it more reliably and/or bring it back when it's destroyed/etc, because in the anime god cards were also unaffected by card effects except for spells, and only for 1 turn on spells, etc.

They are not exactly anime accurate. They are build to make you win in the way the character won in the anime.

Story decks are just something there to challenge oneself with. To actually have moments of thinking "Heart of the Cards" no matter how skillful or knowledgeable one is, all for the sake of winning with that abysmal story deck.

Goal is to pull off the character's victory style with the deck focused on that outcome, if able to pull it off. All done so that when the player wins against highly unlikely odds, it feels accomplishing to win even with just pure luck.

This immersive challenge is optional of course, but sorta instills feeling for how the character felt while struggling to get their victory with absolutely no room for losing whatsoever (death, world ends, etc. if they lose). But that's pretty much the aim to understanding the story deck logic.

They are not exactly anime accurate. They are build to make you win in the way the character won in the anime.

Probably the best example is Yugi's deck against Random Nameless Rare Hunter, where you have Light of Intervention to recreate the anime rules that let you Normal Summon in face-up defense position and by extension let you Chain Destruction one of his spare Exodia pieces. Another one is that Attack The Moon and Sea Stealth Attack were included in the respective duels they were referencing.

Yugi has more heart than me when it comes to heart of the cards. The story decks have taught me that much.

Well yeah, he has the power of God and anime on his side. Okay, lowercase G gods, at the very least. (I checked, the only use of Solemn Judgment in the original series was his opponent)

I'm pretty sure Yugi can influence what card he draws next with his puzzle.

because the anime decks were indeed terrible and filled with extremely situational cards that were always drawn exactly when needed. it's a cartoon, y'know

The story deck not all weak but the game ai programed to ai receive ímeadtly the perfect card while player receive weak or not the right combo . Need create perfect deck which have good def destroy card or reflect damage some special anoying deck which sumon monster destroy 1 card and receive 1 special card imeadtly. This game can beatebla but need build good deck. But not the greatest ai system on which balanced. And deck creation is total mess when found the card is take time. This game need fix ai because all time ai receive imeadtly perfect card player random card. My opinion even fan yugioh player not Wirth spend time this game if you not receive right card first round instant loss game . I add one last try this game but not sucseed i unistall this game and play beter game .
