Something about time pressure to launch at a specific date and net-code not being up to par by then has been some of the sited causes. I can also see it being harder to scale up stuff to be fun when 4 players are in as opposed to just 2 player, since you can have a ridiculous amount of force multiplying combos available at once. That means you simply can't double some of the enemy stats when you double the players and call it done.
I personally believe that the devs will want to get 4 player up and going at some point, but right now I'm betting they are having a hectic time patching all the bugs and exploits that were likely discovered in the Closed Beta test, because there is always outrageous bugs and exploits on launch release versions nowadays, especially with games that have a lot of moving parts like this one.
I wouldn't want to use a mod for 4 players, especially early on, since the game play balance for it will likely be terrible until modders get a feel for the game's balance and hack a better netcode system. And by the time modders do get a feel for things, the devs (who already have experience with the game) could make the mod defunct by releasing a proper 4 player experience.
Cutting out 2 of those people is out of the question for me, the games trailers and marketing really showcased group teamwork. I feel like the game needed to be delayed till that was possible but either way, I will hold off until its added.
Was really excited for this game, there are very few cool indie coop games out and it sucks that this isn't going to be one for us until they make a change.
I'd say give it a bit of time, since the devs heard players loud and clear that they wanted this game to be 4 player.
I do like your enthusiasm, but you damage control way too much without getting paid. Seeing your name in every thread, and not developer's, seems very weird and gives a bad look for devs — one exact player(?) seems more enthusiastic to answering customer's questions, than them.

A friend shown me this and yea, i was right so itseems, normally the game was for 2-5 players so it seems so they cutted it down to only 1-2 players... thats a HUGE bummer.
But yeah, I can type a lot and was bored... really bored (plz send help). I was interested in the game and so kept the dead forum company since all the action was elsewhere.
Also I don't know what you mean by damage control. I totally criticized some of what they did, like how short the demo was, and how it didn't feel like it gave enough of an example of how the game played. I did see a fun game loop there, but damn did the devs keep things tight lipped.
If anything, that obscurity is what's hurting them the most, especially now. The regulars on their Discord are hopeful that 4-player will come, but it really would be nice if we got more info on a key feature of their game. They gave a lot of lore about characters and game areas, but multiplayer stuff? I can't recall seeing much about that.
The devs aren't perfect, but I know they are listening and want to do the right thing. But doing the right thing is never easy.
