I'm assuming the game runs for you as well, because i'm running it on a figurative pomme de terre, so I'm not sure how that equates to anyone: "Taking your money and running."
I too am eager to see progress on the new complete version of the game but as I understand it they were rebuilding the game from the ground up, and I also understand this work isn't occurring in a vacuum, in other words sometimes ♥♥♥♥ happens.
The old line, "give the devs a break" well, we did.
LnL and anything else, is simply not getting the same level of effort other titles earn from their creators.
Second Front awesome game from a one man operation.
Valor and Victory, good game, small operation.
Hex of Steel, nice wargame, the guy aggressively keeps it updated.
We are NOT asking too much from LnL etc, they are just not as good as their competition.
Hiding behind 'early access' has lost it's value.
I have considered this a 'finished' game for 2 years now. And I don't expect NaW to be any better than LnL at getting anywhere fast.
It's worth mentioning, that Second Front is working towards their first big add on. I expect it to arrive long before anything here.
LnL Tactical Digital is a wonderful game. No issues with it from me. I just wish they would finish the game and release the rest of the scenarios.
My issue is with their lack of communication and progress on Nations at War, after repeated promises from them that "things would start happening".
I've recently dropped more than a few bucks printing out counters and maps for Squad Leader ASL. Enough funds I could have bought LnL NaW Valor and Victory and all DLC each several times :) All so I can sit peacefully at a desk and play old school non digital.
These devs are missing out on a lot of solid cash not getting things done. Wargamers pay for what they want. Can't buy what isn't there though.
I doubt if their digital teams are of the same quality as that of the bigger war game producers or have the same level of talent, nor and I hate to say this but will anyway does LnL have the same level of enthusiasm or experience with the digital line as they do for their board game products.
OR - maybe the board game line is just a more lucrative source of income and the digital line is little more than a side hustle.
Anyway - it is what it is. Personally I've been waiting on the Bradley at Bay DLC for the Command Ops game for many years and from what I can tell there's not a lot of work being done on it now and not really much for a very long time.
I'm not holding my breath waiting for any real progress on Nations at War. Got no desire to turn blue and pass out.
Which is fine, no beef with that. I would not mind them saying as much. But logically, I never expect them to say that either :)
Myself, as great as digital gets, and some times digital gets quite good, THIS wargamer will always pick board over digital. That said, I'd rather be playing Squad Leader more than playing something trying to be Squad Leader.
