Battle royal set it LET IT DIE universe. At first it feels unfair and very punishing, but when you got good, it's good.
Don't listen to bad reviews. A lot of them came from frustration. Game is not a pay-to-win, players can only pay for customization.
The only real cons for me are low player base and awfully long matchmaking. At higher ranks you always wait to fight against bunch of exploiters and that's just anti-fun. Player base is so low that you basically wait 5-10 minutes to be killed in 1-2 minutes sometimes.
With last updates they fixed matchmaking issues, added new weapons, new mobs and new map variations.
Give this game a chance!

EDIT: if you see the review by MegaMeerkat saying they got kicked out of the discord because they couldnt win, the truth is they started talking about wanting to murder people irl and started talking about carcasses and got asked to leave. lol

I find the game itself to be very fun however it is damn near impossible to get a match going in either queue on pc. I've waited in queues for 5+ minutes for both ranked and normal, switching between the two. This is not okay for a game where the matches are only around 5 minutes and possibly shorter if you die really early.

This coupled with the wonky weapon unlock. I want to use daggers but in order to get them I have to level up the machete (which I hate) to 10 because there isn't a set of base daggers in the game. I like using the katana a lot but since I also want the daggers I can't use it since I have to have the machete equipped. All of this is pointless though because I can't get into a match to level up my machete to get the daggers to begin with lol

Bad reviews are a bit unfair. Yeah, this isn't Let it Die 2 but nobody promised it would be.
And server issues tend to happen in newly released games.
I played couple of matches and crafted 2 different weapons so far, and I think this game is actually really well made.
Game is as interesting as let it die pvp could get. It just might not appeal to everyone.
However I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love how they changed the universe but still stayed loyal to the original. Everything just looks amazing. I love the theme of the game, all the music, sound effects, visuals and the characters they introduce to us.
I also ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love how we have AI hunters in the game. One I saw is as cool and weird as the first game's bosses. And I love how you have to hunt monsters in a match for materials and such.
My only concern is that original Let it Die was all PvE. You didn't an active player base to enjoy the game. Even inactive players would still add to your experience due to their corpses in babel and their defenses in base still being up. But in this game you won't get to even play it the moment player base goes inactive. That honestly really worries me because ♥♥♥♥, I missed let it die and this game established such a cool universe that I just want to see more and more. They definitely didn't go cheap on this game, everything is just too polished and nice.
I hope they add PvE content in future and can't wait to see what else this game will offer to us.

Dead MP game that is about to die but devs said that they want to relaunch it so maybe it can get better beyond the grave. For some reason they put absolute banger song to menu and that's maybe the best thing the game has. Thankfully there is bots so playing solo was possible but very boring and mundane grind which is why I have more negative feelings about this game. 5/10. It works and can be enjoyable in short bursts.

This game is the tits. The art, humor, combat, and progression are awesome.
At the moment, with the population being so minimal -- the queue times are insane depending on region and/or time of day.

I'm sitting at Diamond 1 Rank and my queue times have been upwards of 15+ minutes sometimes, and I'm in North America.

I'm sure when cross-platform play is made available, this wont be a problem. As it stands, queue times are the biggest issue I've ran into.

DEATHVERSE: Let it Die is a game that is very rough around the edges in terms of its gameplay, store, and overall experience so far. I have only very recently been able to get matches in due to the servers finally resuming after a little over a week of Emergency Maintenance over both platforms. That being said, a lot of what I'm about to say is of early experience with the game, and everything it has to offer.

SEASON PASS PURCHASE ADVISORY:

For starters (and I say this as a warning for everyone who plans to do this), I would NOT recommend buying the 550 Death Metal DLC for this game, as the base pass is 950 Death Metal to purchase.

This is honestly a very scummy move, as nobody who realized this before buying the DLC (which I would assume is 95% of people) would now have to spend an extra $10 just to get enough for the pass. It is possible to get it after buying this, but it's going to be a grind to do so, listed below.

As of right now, the only way of getting the pass without spending more than the 550 Death Metal DLC is to work your way through the season pass to get all the free Death Metal rewards, which still isn't enough, being 100 short (850). Then, leveling up your player level enough to earn a free 30 (880). Finally, hoping you're good at ranked matches in order to get 100 Death Metals from the Phase 1 rewards once it ends.

Or, you'll be lucky enough to get Death Metal Compensation over 100 due to the server issues this past week, along with completing all the free Season Pass Death Metal.

The second one is more likely, and I do praise the fact that they compensate issues like this.

SEASON PASS:

Otherwise known as the Jamboree Pass, the Season Pass is actually good (outside of what was said above involving the method of purchase). There is a lot to earn through it over 200 levels, and a lot of ways to earn Season XP. Mainly through matches, or challenges.

One thing that does worry me about it however is the progression. The more you level up the pass, the more Season XP you need for the next. It seems to be exponential, meaning that it could be a grind to fully complete the pass.

STORE (DEATH METAL):

Now realizing a lot of new things, I've noticed that the store isn't as bad as I've first expected, save for the fact that there is quite a lot locked behind Death Metals or the Season Pass.

Although the store is rather cheap in terms of Premium currency compared to most other games, it will still cost you quite a bit to get things you would genuinely enjoy to wear or decorate your room. The newest bundles, with their currency converted to USD, can cost up to $20. This means that the cheapest pack to get one is the $25 pack for 2800 Death Metal. This is a noticeable issue, as this means all of the cosmetic stuff (outside of Season Pass), is locked behind Death Metal.

So far, the only way to earn these Death Metal is Season Pass, Ranked Rewards, Special Events, and Compensation. From the looks of it, Death Metal will be drip-fed once you've done everything you can in the game to earn the, and by the time you do get the Death Metal for what you want, odds are it will be long gone.

STORE (TICKETS, KILL-COINS AND MORE):

There are four main currencies outside of premium: Tickets, Kill Coins, Gold Leaves, and T-Chips.

Kill Coins:
Kill Coins focus on materials used to craft and upgrade weapons and equipment in the game. You even get one free material per daily store rotation. As such, it's a nice addition...if not for two things.

For Kill Coins, there's a bit of an issue in terms of time-gating, as these items rotate daily. It could be days, if not weeks for an item you need to show up in the store. They can be purchased with Kill Coins, but only one per store rotation. This can be horrific, especially if it's a material you can't seem to earn playing matches. You could have to wait literal months just to upgrade something you want this way.

Tickets:
Tickets are currency only obtained through the Season Pass, and Prize Boxes. These tickets can get you any material you need or skin you want, depending on the ticket's rarity. They also allow you to purchase multiple of a material, assuming you have enough. That is, if you can endure the painstakingly long process of purchasing it over and over, as there is no option to use multiple tickets at once.

Gold Leaves:
A currency that seems to only be obtainable via completing the full Season Pass, allowing you to obtain one golden weapon skin in the store. Only really there for the completionists, and nothing more.

T-Chips:
This one is confusing, as I have no idea how to actually obtain these. My best assumption is that you earn these via special events, mainly through Twitch (hence the "T" in T-Chips). They are used to earn a special outfit, and a selection of materials.

CRAFTING, WEAPONS, AND BALANCING:

Crafting:
I'm just going to be honest in saying this one is rough. A lot of the game's potential is walled behind this menu, and as such can be a grind.

In order to craft or upgrade a weapon, you first need to raise its rank via playing matches with the starter weapon the game starts you with. Then, after 10 weapons levels, you can then craft other weapons in the same tree, assuming you have the materials. There's also the issue of said weapons having perks, which take 30 weapon levels on that specific weapon to obtain.

This is pretty self-explanatory: The weapons got a bit of grind to even function at their full potential, and as such, you're at a disadvantage as the game progresses. Even worse, this applies for every weapon, essentially locking you to use one weapon unless you wish to grind.

In terms of things outside of the weapon tree, such as outfits, this is purely cosmetic, but that's not to say it isn't expensive.

Weapons and Balancing:
There's currently 5 main weapon trees in the game (2 being locked until you reach a certain player rank), and it's obvious that there's a noticeable issue when it comes to balancing. Some weapon's in the trees have far better skills, and some weapons in general are far better than others. Add this with the fact that most of these better weapons are locked behind the grind of crafting and upgrading, and you have a recipe for disaster.

COMBAT AND LATENCY ADVISORY:

Combat:
The combat in this game is very back and forth, and it's genuinely a fun experience. Being able to control a lot on the field, along with quick thinking and reflexes makes it very entertaining and intense. From the health steal mechanic, to all the weird things around the map, it's hard not to get lost in how fun this part of the game really is.

That is, if you're not one of the many currently having a massive delay problem, which makes this game one of the worst combat experiences.

Latency Advisory:
Whether it's from the server, or because of your current connection, there's a massive problem with delay in terms of combat. Sadly, I am one of them.

This issue makes the game nigh impossible to get far. From attacks phasing through opponents that clearly should've hit, to reverse strikes not working, to blocks not working and being hit anyway, to being stunlocked and dying. It is a nightmare to play with this.
