In all honesty... I'd take significantly higher build costs for permanent structures. In between missions. I don't even care about mounts or vehicles. I just want to be able to not have to rebuild a base every time O load into a game...

I completely agree - and combined with:

Now, I'd have been quite happy with either:
A) having a workshop on the space station to craft advanced benches and items
B) having a permanent presence within Olympus that I go back to after every mission where I have all my advanced stuff

... and with some level of persistence - perhaps through a strings of missions, maybe 5 or 6 that go together and share the same starting point...

may just perfect the vision that *I* sort of had for this game in the beginning:

The very first time you are plopped down on Olympus, you've got nothing and are terrified. But you scramble and manage to grab just enough sticks and stones to cobble together a shelter that might withstand some of Icarus' calmer evenings, hoping that the few wolves you've encountered are the worst you'll see tonight. Over the next few days you continue to improve on your makeshift, tier 1 place to sleep, while frantically trying to make headway into the actual goals you've been tasked with, so you can make some money and get back to safety. Perhaps by the end, you succeed, can't wait to get back to base, yet are also somewhat heartbroken to see the little tier 1 makeshift shack, with all it's sores and imperfections, go. You know that it won't be more than a pile of twigs and stones again next time you see it, because you've already learned a harsh lesson on how furiously Icarus fights to reclaim it's natural state.

However, you've learned a few things, and when you get back, you are going to apply that experience (learn tier 2) and come back better next time. So goes the progression, each tier progressively taking much more effort to get into, but also rewarding you with a level of semi-persistence. Perhaps tier 2 and 3 built things can stick around on the 5-6 mission thread in some form or another.

Then - tier 4 only exists (because it only makes sense to exist) back at base, where you really work hard to culminate everything you've learned and struggled through to build some things that are both small enough to take to new missions, but are things that you've learned will really help give you an edge the next time you are out - things like perhaps a nice, precision bow with sites and attachments that is something that you COULD NEVER hope to be able to craft on-site, in the middle of a mission. Or maybe a trusty pickaxe with some extra optimizations that compliment your character's specific talent build, or perhaps even a nifty popup tent made from exotic materials that are able to withstand some of the poorer Icarus conditions - these are CRAFTED and customized, not simply bought.

This loop would feel rewarding. Fighting to build something that will persist through the next few missions would make time invested strip-mining caves worth it - because you know it's an INVESTMENT for the more difficult future missions in this area. Ultimately, the experience and exotics you earn through surviving multiple missions can payoff in the tier 4 category - the stuff that permanently benefits your character.

Granted, the missions would really have to be re-worked from what they are today to build a cohesive thread that makes sense. Perhaps the first mission is just exploring, getting the lay of the land, and finding and marking where the better materials and potential exotic locations are. Next mission, you really start mining and putting together a forward base using materials that should survive to the upcoming missions - it's going to take a lot (more than it does today), but it's going to be worth it to not have to build again for the rest of the missions. And so then, the REST of the missions of the thread will be about exploring deeper, strengthening and fortifying that base, maybe fighting bosses or getting a biofuel rig together to extract some hard-to-get exotics. Finally you get to the real challenge and reward, hoping that it pays off to help your character permanently advance in some way - maybe earning a RANK that shows your experience and permits you into the more difficult mission threads in the future, etc.

That would be my dream, but in the meantime, I just really would like to see continued work on quality of life enhancements and at least making tier 4 make sense as it stands today. Either Implement or GET RID OF the "Coming soon" specs that tease us every time we look at the tech tree.

DEVS AND DESIGN: Please finish the systems you set out to finish and stop wandering all over the roadmap coming up with different things to show every week. I'd much rather see updates that show real progress on one thing than a little of this and a little of that, changing weekly (for example - three weeks of attachments, yet no scope for a gun. three weeks improving talent trees, but still entire trees left unpolished. adding NEW items to build, but leaving placeholders for stuff since beta). It does tend to feel like there is a real lack of focus. That is what tends to unsettle everyone most, leading to some nasty comments.

All that gets my vote. Separate the survival crafting from the specialist tech crafting and create some much needed risk, strategy and reward. Its the feedback loop the game need to supercharge it. Ideally with your main base being on the space station.

there is a glitch when manually placing any buildable piece onto any other piece where it instantly breaks. only happens when you use the home PgUp PdDn commands and attach an item to another item. it breaks and doesn't work. please fix

Honestly, running on a mount or on foot is still running. All that matters is which is faster. But, they did advertise the game with a dune buggy.

Why is no one talking about my steam updater estimating, at one point, 1>year for download completion of patches? This game takes like an hour to update... every. update.

everyone is wasting their time using these update forums as an idea journal. Devs dont read these and make decisions, they barely even follow the up-vote system. None of the highest requested fixes/additions were chosen to be worked on. They always choose the stuff that you never really notice. If i went back right now after 13 weeks of absence i would only notice a few minor things, like a new map and maybe some new useless equipment or some animals i don't intend on ever fighting, stuff like that
We do read these forums, three of our staff have already commented on this post.

Additionally, many of the items above are directly from feature upvote, and are linked so you can see. We don’t have time to link all of them, so the actual count coming from feature upvote is even higher.

Your comment is factually incorrect, and quite obviously so on even point. Please be mindful of the steam community guidelines which requires you are not deliberately disruptive.

Another update, and another 100 people crying about no vehicles, yet no one actually upvoting for them. lol

Why write future content history in patch notes?

"We're working on this and that content. Look forward to it. Don't curse." Is it this?

If you're a game developer, you have to explain to your players what you're planning for the future and what you're going to do with the content. That's the roadmap. But it has to be a overall category. Not "this week's work brief."
What you guys worked on this week and what the patch is internally is not a good roadmap and it's a mess spoiler.

It's not a pride to have long patch notes because of "future content," not because of the player's desired addition to good content or bug fixes or optimization patch history.

It is recommended that you patch every week and publish patch notes.

But if you don't have much content to add, just leave it there. Please throw away the useless "future content" from your patch notes.

I'd like to see properly created content when it's developed and ready to be released and formally introduced. I don't want to see future content with your "work brief this week."
Isn't survival mode without wipe base with unlimited time quests = I won't turn on the game

This is a good example of what this discussion, or most of the posts in this forum, are about. Someone writes in a post that he does not feel understood as a customer and wishes that his wishes are taken into account. Purely formally he expresses himself possibly not completely correctly (on the other hand: have you ever stood in the store, wanted to buy something, and the salesman has said: this is formally not correctly formulated, please do not wish something in this formulated way. Oh well - I keep your money, of course).
Dear developers, dear three-member forum-reading team: in my opinion, there is a significant difference between "reading a message" and "listening carefully to what it is actually about when reading a message". Too bad I can't exchange the game anymore. After Rocket's statement "Your comment is factually incorrect, and quite obviously so on even point. Please be mindful of the steam community guidelines which requires you are not deliberately disruptive" now would be the time. very inappropriate reaction.

It's hard to know what to feel, Rocket. Especially when what we purchased was not what we expected. There is an old adage.."If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."
Anyway, still hoping you pull this off somehow.

They delete comments that they find offensive or that undermine sales, hence earnings.
For those who followed Dayz in the beginning, same thing, same method. First they promise, take your money with promises, and then threaten with Steam guidelines.
On the forum same thing. Perhaps it is time that people are more aware of who to give their money to, and more importantly, perhaps it is time that what is promised is then kept.
