they do use a lot of water, especially if you connect 10 of them.
The "valves" make watering LARGE area crop plots easier :)
I imagine they didn't want crop irrigation to be automatic...good balancing.
Crop irrigation still requires care.
You just can't leave the water on...
It would be a waste of stored water.

Ah! This makes perfect sense, and it's an excellent way to look at the game mechanics.
I haven't seen a valve device in the game. Are you just referring to the on/off function of some devices, or is there a thing I can use to interrupt water to a branch of the pipe network?
I just pretend the on/off switch is a valve...
Maybe we should ask for "clappers"... ^^
