Vapor Condenser issue
Hello!

I checked the wiki.

I'm on open world, Olympus. I put a vapor condenser on a geyser.
I built concrete foundations around it, and put pistol turrets.
I activate the thing, wolves came. I killed all that came, but then nothing happen. No more wolves and the condenser doesn't give anything. Still witing for something to happen...

Must be a bug, right?

What usually happens in situations like this is that the animals that are supposed to wave attack you get stuck on terrain around the area. The wave doesn't progress to completion unless the animals are killed so you're stuck there wondering what's going on. You end up having to go out and patrol to finish off the waves. Here's a video of a player doing the event and noticing the animals getting stuck.

All that said, I think your best bet for geyser events is to clear the entire area first. Bushes, rocks, trees. Everything has to go so you have clear sight lines and the animals have fewer things to get stuck on. Going to the desert or arctic areas might help too since they generally have fewer obstructions but your enemies might be a bit tougher.

I waited for an entire ingame day but it was definetly stuck. No more angry creatures coming and the machine didn't give anything at all. Quite annoying. I spent a lot of time preparing the place, crafting a lot of turrets, hundreds of armor percing bullets, killed quite a lot of wolves, for nothing.

It's a most probably bug in animal AI, some of the animals tend to get stuck behind rocks and other obstacles when they try beeline to vapor condenser.

I saw it once, so after that, I checked around if it happens again but it didn't seem so...

It would be better that the devs fix the AI and path finding issue but yeah, I think I'll clear the area...

I finally got something out of it. But it's not worth it at all IMO.
I'll be honest here, I think that mechanic is pure ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. There's way too much creatures for so little reward. Also, it's very annoying that some creatures often get stuck behind rocks or whatever. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

I think it's supposed to be a trigger-able horde event to mess around with friends during because the spawn numbers increase per player. Multiplayer the increased numbers aren't nearly as daunting though because they still come in the same sized groups just over a longer period of time and the stuck animals aren't as noticeable if you've got guys out patrolling the whole time instead of bunkered up with a repair hammer.

It is the only way to get Enzymes which are used to craft special decorations so the reward is at least unique. Having it give out something special or "gotta-have-it" level would limit a lot of solo players from that aspect of the game since the entire event is optional.

One thing you may have over looked is the bestiary. Triggering the waves usually triggers some unique animals that you can scan, kill, skin, and stuff to fill out the bestiary much easier than trying to hunt them down in the wild. Things like bear cubs, polar bear cubs, viscid, stonejaws, arid strikers, etc depending on where you run the event. There's also some alpha variants that aren't found anywhere else that you can craft trophies from but I don't think they have a separate bestiary entry. If you did it in the Olympus forest there were black jaguars that only normally appear on missions.

It's all completely optional though and now you know it's not your cup of tea.

I'm playing alone. And since there's a single player mod, it should be made first for that mode, then adapted for mutliplayer.
It's too much struggle for not much. It's bad. Without big defense construction, it's totally impossible. When creatures are stuck, I have to get to them, and I got killed by a cougar or bear at that point... I spent hours to prepare myself, also cutting trees and getting rid of big rocks around. ♥♥♥♥ it.

Yes, I do enjoy this game apart from that, for sure.
I even forgot there were several waves of creatures lol
The way it is now is absurd and should be modified
