Lost characters

So I have not played in a few months been at least 4ish months and thought I would login and see what new. Well whats new is everything I had has been deleted. Had 2 max levels most of the work shop and that's all gone. Can this be restored?

When I launched the game this weekend, my old character from 2021 was gone and any indication that I have the Supporters Edition was missing. When I tried to start a new character, none of the SE benefits were available. Even after quickly running thru the tutorial mission, there was no indication that I had SE other than on my Steam purchase history.

I discovered troubleshooting steps posted by another Discord member, Sara, in the #how-to-icarus channel on the Icarus Discord. Following her instructions, I was able recover my old character and find the Supporters Edition benefits restored to my in-game profile.

She provided detailed instructions to download the last build of Icarus that allowed data migration. What follows is an overview of my experience with her troubleshooting procedure.

• After the download succeeded (Sara warns that it is possible for the first attempt to fail, since we are DL'ing the full game), I created a .bat file according to her instructions.
  
• Make sure you have your Steam ID and Steam username ready to go.
  
• I saved the text file as .bat and then ran it (in my case, I double-clicked the .bat file). The game launched and then I found a button labeled "Force Data Migration" at the bottom of the main menu.
  
• I clicked the "Force Data Migration" button to start the process.
  No errors appeared during and I then launched the fully-updated game via Steam as usual.
  
• My old character had been restored, along with all my old prospects, my in-game achievements, unlocked Workshop items, and my stored gear.

I have no idea how the troubleshooting procedure would affect an ongoing OpenWorld save, but if Sara's procedure does not work for you, you may wish to hit-up the #tech-support channel on the Discord or send an email to [e-mail].

Yeah i'm not going threw lines of code. I'll just delete the game and give a 1 star rating. This should never be a users job to edit code and merge game data. Guess this is the thanks early supporters get thanks!.

This guide doesn't work. When trying to download the old version of the game I am getting

Depot download failed : error writing chunk for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_1149460\depot_1149461\Icarus\Content\Paks\pakchunk0_s20-WindowsNoEditor.pak"

500+ hours of progress gone. Because they cannot implement files migration from their servers to players' computers... I guess it's time to change my review to negative...
